Travel by vehicles are necessary to complete daily tasks, however I do agree that drivers of the age twenty and over are less likely to be involved in car accidents. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety drivers of the ages 16-19 are three times more likely to be involved in road accidents compared to older more experienced drivers. An adolescent starts to feel larger than life and boast to friend about their new ride when they first acquire their drivers license, adolescents as new drivers are less aware of the risks of certain actions which they do prior to driving; they drink, they text on their mobile devices, they drive at reckless speeds and take roads which they are not used to, Older drivers at times do this but they have more of an experience and do this with more caution. Research shows that a drunk driver's deceptiveness and reaction is delayed at the most 3.25 seconds to that of their normal reaction, teenagers have a tendency to party and are pressured by friends to drink and this increases the probability of them being involved in an accident. According to the CDC, each year teenager who drives under the influence are 17% more likely to be involved in fatal and/or critical accidents compared to drivers aged twenty and older. Older drivers have more knowledge of the road, the best and safest route to take, and also when it is most appropriate to take these routes, young drivers have less experience of desired routes

According to the World health organization Approximately 1.35 million people die each year as a result of road crashes alone and of those 1.35 million persons each year 55% percent of drivers for those crashes are under the age of 18. This statics show that persons under the age of 20 are more likely to get into a car accident than any other age group. Young adults are immature and are easily led by peers to make bad decisions such as drunk driving and racing each other in the name of fun therefore I stand with the statement that the number of road accidents will decrease if the age for obtaining a drivers license is increased to 20 years. As a teen myself I know of many teens that say they are responsible enough to not engage in drunk driving and have driven numerous of times without getting into an accident. I also know of teens that do say that and have gotten into a road accident.
The statistics show that in the past year non fatal road by teens

Some may agree and some may disagree. Accidents firstly may stem from retirement ages like old drunk men. Secondly, accidents can be caused from tiredness or fatigue. Lastly, accidents may also be caused by recklessness from taxi men. According to the road safety organizations, approximately 1 billion accidents occur each day around the world. Statistics show that the reason for these accidents may result from tiredness as previously stated.

Retirement age (60 and over) is where an individual stops work but can still receive pay from the government.

Younger drivers, as well as old ones, can cause many life-threatening accidents. Teenage drivers are effortlessly distracted. They are inexperienced at understanding as well as recognizing road hazards. Adolescents can be immature, careless and reckless, especially when they’re with their friends. As a result, driving should be one of those privileges and responsibilities of being welcomed into adulthood.

Driving is a serious matter that does demand full attention as well as a responsible attitude. Most days we may hear about accidents on News channels or on radio broadcasts. Unluckily, the road accidents are one of the leading cause of death among teenagers. Permitting young people to drive at the same age as they are allowed to consume legal drugs such as alcohol and nicotine surely is a big step in the wrong direction. Those who drive have to abide to strict laws. Adolescents are taught how to properly drive cars and have to be able to prove that they can perform to a specific level before they are able to get their licence.

The big debate as to whether the legal driving age should be raised is an ongoing issue. Studies from the road-traffic authority have shown that most deaths of young drivers are between the ages of 16-18.
Children must be taught from an early age about traffic rules. They must be taught the value of life and how they can safeguard it. Moreover, the government must pass more stringent laws for people who disobey traffic rules. They must fine people heavily or take strict action when found guilty of breaking these laws irrespective of age.
Similarly, parents must set an example for the younger ones by not using phones while driving. Also, they must always wear their helmets and seatbelts to avoid the chances of an accident. If the legal driving age is increased up to twenty, this would mean that no more kids could get hurt or worse, killed in a car accident.

I strongly disagree with the topic “ the number of road accidents will decrease if the age for obtaining a driver’s license is increased to 20 years old”. Road accidents will occur regardless of the age persons receive their licenses. Teenagers ages 16-19 who receive their licenses are more mature and responsible, driving can provide teens with the opportunity to act independently and parents have control of the vehicle and the hours they are allowed to join.
It has been proving that teens ages 16-19 who receive their licenses are more mature and responsible because of the big role they now have. At age 16-19 teenagers are more mature to understand the importance of driving and they also would have been taught about driver’s education by the time they’re 19 they would already have enough experience to be on the road. They also learn the road code and they would it grasp it better because they are younger.
Driving comes with a certain level of independence that teenagers should be given. Teenagers should not depend solely on parent or guardians to bring them around because they won’t be around forever and then it might be harder for them to learn how to drive because not everyone can take instructions from persons imagine your 35 and a 16year old might be the one teaching you how to drive. Teenagers should learn to be independent and driving places a major role in that.
In addition to the information stated above parents will have full control over the vehicle and the time teenagers get to drive and come in which is their curfew. After certain hours there are a lot of drunk drivers on the road. Yes they are mature enough to drive but study shows that from 9pm to 3am drunk drivers are on the road and they could cause the accidents instead of the teenagers. According to a study the largest number of intoxicated drivers were 21 to 24 years old, followed by 25 to 34 years old, not one teenager was mentioned because they would have already have enough experience on the road and know the road code, to know not to drink and drive.
To summarize what has been stated above, I disagree with the topic and teenagers would be more responsible, independent and experienced if they receive their licenses at age 16-19.

Don't you think there are other factors which lead to road accidents that are far behind the drivers' control? I do not agree that increasing the age requirement for acquiring a driver's license would reduce the number of road accidents.

Adult drivers cause about 10.5 million road accidents to occur each year. The most common cause of these accidents is drunk driving by elderly men. In addition to this, elderly people are proven to be at a greater risk of meeting in an accident while driving due to health issues.

More than half of the fatal road accidents that take place each year is as a result of poor road infrastructure. In 2011, about 303 persons in this country died because of the poor condition of roads. Even unpleasant weather conditions often cause accidents on the road. About 600000 car accidents happened because of heavy rainfall, causing the vehicles to skid on wet pavement. These factors are far beyond the control of the drivers.

Accidents do happen and it can happen to anyone, regardless of their age. Therefore extending the age requirement for obtaining a driver's license will not reduce the risk of road accidents.

* againsnt
1. most accidents are caused by taxi drivers.
2. slow drivers
3. using electronics while driving.

Driving reckleass is a choice and must be earned by an individual. It is often caused by a reckless choice of driving, by anyone who has a license, i including teenagers. Therefore I oppose the moot " the number of road accidents will decrease if the age for obtaining a license is increased to 20 year".

"Will the number of road accidents decrease if the age for obtaining a driver's license is increased to 20 years?".
Every adult was once a child and is more than capale of making the same mistakes as any underage person , therefore I STRONGLY DISAGREE to obtaining a liscenses at the age of 20 years old,as it will not decrease road accidents
Now i know most would say young people with license drive reckless, and carefee and they arent use to the road as yet but ,does a license drive a car really?, no it doesnt, experience and knowledge does, a person can be in thier mid 30's, with no proper knowledge of driving whatsoever but has a license because of the age, while a person can be 18 with the right knowledge to drive but cant obtain a license, i think that is absurd
Some of these accidents are caused by people in thier old age who cant manage to drive anymore and some who suffer from illnesses but still drive , because they have a license and are legal to drive they still go out , risking other people and themselves also, its better to have a license at normal legal age ,because the teenagers are young and are more capable to drive with the proper teaching at that.
Accidents are also caused by the reckless driving of taxi drivers who speed , are these taxi men teenagers? no, they are big grown men and women who are suppose to be setting examples to newbie drivers because they were gien a liscense showing that "they can drive", but are yet to do so,
By all that has been said, all those are points of accidents increasing with being over the age of 20, so accidents will not decrease if licenses are given out at the age of 20.
