The average size of a tropical cyclone is 170 kilometres wide. The size of a cyclone can be determined on the atmospheric and sea conditions at the time. For a cyclone to form the ocean has to be over 26 degrees celsius so automatically when it moves onto land or colder oceans it will weaken rapidly this is because these are locations where their heat and/or moisture sources do not exist.

Some scientists such as billionaire Bill Gates believe that a process of using fleets of vessels to mix warm water from the surface of the ocean with colder water from deeper areas in effort to cool down the surface of the water to help prevent & control the cyclones.

Technology is also helping reduce damage that these disasters make. More developed countries have the resources that allow emergency services & scientists to monitor and prepare for the occurrence and size of the storm.

Wind turbines are created by environmental engineers. Wind turbines are considered to provide a defence against cyclones, by slowing damaging winds.

Mathematics are used to measure the speed of the wind speed and gust, size that it takes up.
