<title>The definition of sympathy is: Feeling, generally instinctive, of affection or inclination towards a person or towards their attitude or behavior, which causes us to find their presence pleasant, to wish things to turn out well, etc. The definition of empathy is: The definition of empathy: Empathy is the ability to share another person&#39;s feelings and emotions as if they were your own. They are similar because: Sympathy is the feeling and expression of concern for someone, oftenaccompanied by a wish for that person to be happier or better. Empathy is the ability to recognize and share the emotions of another person. They are different because: Sympathy is an expression of concern for someone else&#39;s misfortune. ... Empathy is the ability to really feel what another person feels, as the expression goes, &quot;walk a mile in their shoes.&quot; </title>

<title>Sympathy most commonly means the sharing of emotions with someone else, especially sadness. This is usually understood to mean that you feel bad for them because they are in a negative situation. Sympathy is sometimes used to mean compassionEmpathy is an enormous concept. <title>Sympathy involves understanding from your own perspective. Empathy involves putting yourself in the other person&#39;s shoes and understanding WHY they may have these particular feelings. In becoming aware of the root cause of why a person feels the way they do, we can better understand and provide healthier options.</title>

<title>Sympathy, constructed from the Greek sym, meaning &quot;together,&quot; and pathos, referring to feelings or emotion, is used when one person shares the feelings of another, as when one experiences sadness when someone close is experiencing grief or loss. Empathy is a newer word also related to &quot;pathos.&quot; It differs from sympathy in carrying an implication of greater emotional distance. With empathy, you can imagine or understand how someone might feel, without necessarily having those feelings yourself.</title>
