1) I am not sure what I am expecting for this class. I know that we have the Constitution Test, but other than that I am not sure what will be the main focus. I am really excited to learn in this class. I enjoy talking about politics and government-related topics. I expect to increase my knowledge of modern day government and learn about how the government was ran hundreds of years ago.

3) The presidential election is a topic that I am kind of interested in, but at the same time I feel as though there is no real good option for president out of the two candidates. If I had to choose one person to be our next president, I think I would choose Donald Trump. I like some of his ideas (even though sometimes he doesn't explain how he is going to make the ideas happen). Also, I like Donald Trump more, because Hilary just doesn't seem like a very trustworthy person or a potential president.

I thought that the O'Connor and Gensburg story was very interesting. I think it was amazing that O'Connor was the first woman in the court. I think the fact that both women brought a womanly presence into the court system is incredible. Most people said that O'Connor had a lot of holes in what she said, but that Gensburg worked slowly and always saw the big picture, so she was very successful with that. I think these two ladies are both very inspirational for what they did!

I think the video made it easier to understand when I was watching it and hearing it. I think being able to hear the emotion behind it, made it more understandable. My favorite part of the Declaration is the part that talks about everything the King has done, the part with the "He." This is my favorite because I like being able to hear what the people have had to undergo and I like the way it was written, it sounds very beautiful.

I do agree that there should be an amendment made that makes burning the flag unconstitutional. I agree with this because burning something that is a true representation of our country is completely disrespectful. The people fighting over seas, who are dying to keep the United States safe are fighting for that flag and honor it. I think disrespecting the flag is a direct insult to the military and our country.

Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (Question #1)

I think that this movie was actually very cool and interesting. When we first started watching it I was kind of confused. In the movie, I liked how Mr. Smith was put in the Senate and the boy scouts brought him a briefcase. I like how Mr. Smith stood up for 23 hours. I think it was awesome that he did that and was able to fight for what he wanted. Although, I was really sad whenever he fainted at the end, but at least the other guy confessed about the corrupt ideas! The whole movie was really cool and I actually liked it considering it was a black and white movie.

I think that Mr. Smith was in the Republican Party or he was Libertarian and I think the other guys were in the Democratic Party. He was very close to the people it seemed and wanted what he thought was best for them. Today, he would belong to the Libertarian party because he seems like he would fit into their idea of everything for the people and bringing peace to the world through all of the governments ideas. Yes, he still is in politics today. Once he awoke from his fainting, he continued on to push the boys club and won. He is still in the senate today and wants to eventually be the President.

I think that Mr. Smith is a lot like Rodney Davis. I think that both of these men like to stick up for what they believe in and will fight to get it done. Rodney Davis recently said "Our first priority must be protecting the American people here at home." I think this is a lot like Mr. Smith, because they both want to put the people first. I think both of these men are from a small town and like to do everything for the people and love to make sure that what the people want happens. The only way these two men aren't alike is that Smith fought for a boys club.
http://rodneydavis.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=398858
