Hey tipsy aka Garrett losing a parent is hard o understand that coming from my own loss of my mother 6 years ago (going to be 6 this year anyways) so all I can say is I'm sorry you're going through that shit and please take your time don't worry about us we will be here when you need it and we love you tipsy but don't force yourself on streaming for our sake take your time on spending with your family and etc we can be patient on waiting on streams for awhile and etc etc and big ginat hugs and smiles to ya and Mel.

I know life has been rough, and it sucks so much that this was the end result of this hard time you and your family has had. If you're feeling mad, sad, unhappy, happy, anywhere in between - your feelings are valid. Take any and all the time you need to recuperate--and remember to prioritize yourself above others. (It seems antithetical to someone as selfless as yourself, but if it needs to be done, do it!)

A part of him will live on through you. Considering how giving you are, and realizing that you are exactly as loving and considerate in person, I can tell he raised you well. You are his legacy and I don't doubt you will only continue to honor it, and him.

I've heard it recently that the emotion of grief is actually an act of love. The grieving process is tough, no matter how little or greatly we are prepared, especially when it's a parent. We are aware there's a natural order to life, but life doesn't prepare us for the loss.
I am grateful to your father, as well as your mother, for the human being that is you. I'm sorry that I didn't have the opportunity to know him, but I feel like I'm getting introduced to him through your spirit and joy of life. My deepest condolences as you and your family grieve and love.

I'm so sorry you're on this side of life. It's not a good side to be on. The feeling of being lost and lonely and aching is overwhelming.
However you grieve, however you try to sort out the feelings and get back on track, is valid. Let it take its course as much as you are able to.
The aching will ease, eventually. But it'll always be present. It is a great sign that the smallest thing can remind you that the world has lost a great man. It means he stood for something and meant something. That, whatever his own obstacles and demons were, he was willing to fight until the end.
Rain and I have something we cheekily call the Dead Dad Club, since we both lost our dads this year. It might be morbid, but if we aren't laughing we'd be crying. Hopefully you'll be able to find something to distract yourself with during key times of your grief.
This is kind of a ramble, but please know your dad is waiting for you on the other side but he's also always with you in this mortal coil. He'll never leave you, even if his physical body is no longer with us.

Of course, I want to tell you that your father is in a better place and that things will be alright and the fact is, he is in a better place and things will get better. You two have come to mean so very much to me over the last several months, both because you are wonderful people and also you have been such strong supporter for me as I have started streaming.

I know from experience that no words I can share right now will even remotely take any of the pain you have away. And I honestly don't want to. Please allow yourselves the time you need to feel these things, and be there for one another and your family.

Your father loved the man you are, and if he is anything like my father, hated what ALS had taken from him, even if he couldn't express it properly. But now? Today? He feels so much better. And is released from the prison ALS had made his body.
