This image depicts two young boys looking at a computer screen together. They are in a classroom, and there are other children doing the same thing. This shows that technological devices inside of classrooms are a way to unite students, and allow them to collaborate with their peers in a creative and unorthodox way. This is important because having this new device allows students to have a different perspective about learning that focuses around problem solving, creativity, and teamwork. An increase in these said things can completely change the way children develop; they can become more of a team player, more artistic, and overall quicker on their feet. Technology in the classrooms is a good thing due to the fact that they encourage peer work and creativity. This picture is a perfect example of this.

It is argued that implementing technology in the classroom can make it easier to cheat on tests and everyday classwork, and the students can’t be trusted with such technology. This is not true, for there are many programs that can be put on devices that students use that can prevent both distractions and cheating. Additionally, for the most part, students can be trusted with the resources they are given. The blog on TopHat explains that “some classroom software allows you set questions that are subtly different for every student, making them focus on the technique rather than the answer; and edtech software such as Turnitin is already well-established in most higher education settings. These assistive tools can help professors identify students who plagiarize.” This is important because it shows that even when there are small downsides to devices in classrooms, there are solutions that are just the push of a button away. Technology is here to help us, and one way it is helping us is preventing cheating. Overall, the risk of cheating is a very small price to pay considering the benefits of technology in schools due to the fact that cheating is infrequent and easily solvable, as well as the hundreds of benefits of putting devices in the hands of students.

Putting technological devices in classrooms helps boost student’s creativity and independence, which is crucial for the development of today's youth. The U.S. government released an article titled Use of Technology in Teaching and Learning and the article goes on to explain that “Online learning opportunities and the use of open educational resources and other technologies can increase educational productivity by accelerating the rate of learning; reducing costs associated with instructional materials or program delivery; and better utilizing teacher time”. A different article produced by the U.S. government states that “experiences in developing the kinds of rich, multimedia products that can be produced with technology, particularly when the design is done collaboratively so that students experience their peers' reactions to their presentations, appear to support a greater awareness of audience needs and perspectives. Multiple media give students choices about how best to convey a given idea (e.g., through text, video, animation). In part because they have the capability to produce more professional-looking products and the tools to manipulate the way information is presented, students in many technology-using classes are reportedly spending more time on design and audience presentation issues.” These pieces of text show that the use of devices such as computers in the classroom has proved to be very beneficial for students, and these devices allow students to immerse themselves in the software, which helps creativity. The use of tablets and computers in the hands of students gives them the opportunity to express themselves. The problems they face also gives them a chance to work with peers. This is important because this teaches children very important life skills in an unorthodox way.

Dear School Board of America,

I am writing to you today on behalf of all of the schoolchildren in America. I strongly believe that integrating technological devices into the classroom for children to use is very beneficial for everyone involved. I believe granting more money to school districts in order to purchase devices for students to use daily. This grant would give students of all racial, cultural, and financial backgrounds an equal opportunity. Some families may struggle with being able to afford all of the school supplies and textbooks needed for the school year. Granting school districts with money to buy devices for children would eliminate this entire problem.
Additionally, giving children devices such as Chromebooks, iPads, etc., would allow children to be more creative and tech savvy with their work. As the world changes, technology is becoming more and more prominent in everyday working jobs. Making children comfortable using technology can greatly help prepare them for their future in the workforce.
This also helps teachers, it allows them to design curriculum from the computer, and it gives them an opportunity to facilitate lessons instead of teaching them.
Overall, it is a very good idea to consider funding schools in order to buy technological devices for children to use. I hope you consider my offer and have a good day.
Eva Epley
