As a forever learner, I want to be able to forever grow and learn, as well as allow others to grow with me. As someone who is always working hard with the amount of time I dedicate, I never back down on any challenge. This can be shown through the use of all the hard work I've done in the past few years, which were not easy but were worth the time and hard work, which include volunteering at a local school, hundreds of community service hours, or just committing myself to being a loyal and hardworking individual. As a person who has worked so hard in this community, I want to be allowed to allow others to do the same or more.

The rhetorical appeals used in this job posting were to find candidates who were the most qualified or even the best fit for the job for elementary school teachers. This job posting is for Legacy Early College to hire someone who fits their eyes for the job. Legacy Early College is also looking for candidates who can bring excellence and achievement and allow for growth for all types of students, due to the school being K4-12. The audience for this specific job posting is all who are interested in a career that involves teaching/educating young children. This posting is also for people who are qualified enough for this job posting, which requires a bachelor’s degree and a teaching certificate (optional). Some channels that are being used are job posting sites such as LinkedIn and Indeed, which can spread the word about the job posting and allow for more interest and ultimately for candidates to choose from. I would use logos to complete this job posting because the job posting is for people who are qualified enough to receive the position. Showcasing that knowledge and your abilities to be a good candidate is critical to being able to get the position.

The logical fallacy I used for this advertisement is the bandwagon fallacy. This fallacy is related to when the majority of people agree on something, which makes others automatically agree due to the popularity of the agreement/belief. The fallacy occurred when the commercial appeared at the Grammys as a commercial, and when Lady Gaga’s large fan base found out or saw the premiere of this new song, it was automatically a “hit” song. I think that this was not international because the commercial was good, but the fact that everyone automatically thought it was good based on the artist created this fallacy.

The first rhetorical appeal I identified was pathos because this well-known artist was releasing a new album, and this song was a teaser for this upcoming album. This rhetorical approach was also used in the commercial to create suspense within the video to make it more dramatic. The next appeal used was logos because this commercial was made by MasterCard, and this helps build logic with the audience by showing that MasterCard supports artists, allowing the audience to want to support this company. The next rhetorical appeal used is ethos because the use of two very well-known brands, Mastercard and Lady Gaga, helps showcase professionalism and credibility. The use of Lady Gaga's appearance also helps others trust Mastercard, building credibility for the brand. I also believe all of these appeals are used well and help make the advertisement appeal to its audience.

The article "Find More Ways to be an Outsider" claims that people who adapt to change, for example, going to college, traveling the world, or even experiencing another culture, can initially feel uncomfortable. Still, it turns into some of the best experiences of your life.
The author tries to persuade the reader to showcase that people can benefit from going out of their comfort zone and trying something new that can affect them positively long term.
Some evidence the author provides to support their argument is, For example, their daughter “attended three high schools during an especially peripatetic period in our family and then chose a college in Pamplona, Spain. The changes were hard at first, but she is flourishing, just as the data would predict.” This helps showcase that changes happen all the time, but some things we can do are try to adapt to them because long-term change can help/benefit anyone who's up to it. I would say there is enough evidence to convey their point. The speaker's strongest points are specific examples to back up their claim by including famous people to showcase their claim. The weakest point was using examples of immigrants and college students without showcasing some experiences from those groups of people.
The assumption the authors make is that the discomfort of being an outsider ultimately brings growth, and yes, this happens for a lot of people, but in a lot of cases, people don't experience growth.
This argument has a lot to do with logos by showcasing a logical explanation and scientific research to back up their claim.
Yes, the author has a lot of reputational ethos by showcasing that they have experienced change by going to foreign countries and adapting to a new culture.
The author creates ethos through their words by showcasing the value of change, resilience, and growth. By also coming off as a very wise and encouraging person by explaining how to achieve growth.
The argument uses pathos by explaining their own experiences and the challenges faced, creating tension and empathy for the reader, allowing them to experience pathos throughout the article.
The author uses persuasive techniques like appeals to people and their views and also shows something that a lot of people have experienced to intrigue the reader and enable them to relate to the text. This can be seen through examples of people moving or just adapting to change, which many people have done, which allows the reader's persuasive technique of relating to the reader to work very well. But the technique that doesn't work well is the generalization of change is always going to be growth

Evaluating Sources - Reflection

When learning about how to effectively make sure sources are credible, I always use lateral reading to help me achieve that goal. But it wasn’t always this way; before I used lateral reading, I didn't know what source to trust and if the information was true or not. This all changed when using lateral reading because being able to use lateral reading has allowed me to be prepared for the future academically and personally. Lateral reading allows me to fact-check the information being presented. This ultimately helps when trying to find information because, without correct information, there's no point in using it. Being able to use lateral reading allows me to make the right decision for sources. This also comes to help with research papers in the future, or if I’m just trying to prove an argument in everyday life, lateral reading and effectively getting the correct information and making sure their ethos is used correctly or there at all.

When learning about how to effectively make sure sources are credible, I always look for bias to be able to identify if a source is credible or not. When writing argumentative papers, one of the biggest problems is that the authors make their arguments biased. Making their paper biased eliminates the purpose of the argument because the paper is going to try and persuade us rather than let us formulate our own opinion. Being able to use both positive and negative examples with a clear tone and no bias allows for a clear and crisp argument, which can effectively help any paper have stronger arguments. There are many types of bias, but when writing, you should try to avoid all of them to allow any argument to shine through and present itself stronger. Using this information for the future academically will allow for any arguments to allow multiple sides of the story to allow the reader to make their own opinion. This is important because arguments need to allow the reader to formulate their own opinion.

“My Papa’s Waltz”

The poem “My Papa’s Waltz,” by Theodore Roethke, showcases a father-and-son relationship that is dark and sinister. While at first glance this poem might seem playful, in reality the context of the use of imagery and tone showcases discomfort and tension.

One of the key points of evidence in the opening line is “The whiskey on your breath / Could make a small boy dizzy" (Roethke, lines 1-2). These lines showcase imagery and are not the good kind. These lines also seem to reference the boy in the poem and his father. This showcases a lot of danger that the boy is in. The boy's tone, for example, “My mother’s countenance/ Could not unfrown itself” (Roethke, lines 7-8). These lines showcase a lot of tone because they showcase sadness and fear. This is done by showcasing the mother being very unhappy with her facial expressions, showcasing more imagery and depth to this poem. Both of these examples showcase the use of imagery within the poem “My Papa’s Waltz” by Theodore Roethke. All of these examples showcase the use of discomfort and tension within this family by pointing out how unhappy everybody is and how the dad being drunk has created a very tension-filled household.
