This is the first book that was given to me as a gift. This is a book that takes you into a perfect world. In order to keep war and hatred from happening, the leaders of this world have opted to make everything the same. They believe that by keeping everything controlled and monotone, that society will avoid famine, poverty, and sickness. I think this book is  a must read for upper elementary and early middle school. This is one of my favorite books by Nicholas parks. The book is about a boy and a girl who meet during the summer. Allie comes from a wealthy family, while Noah comes from a very humble background. Regardless of their differences, the pair fall madly in love. When Allies parents become worried that her relationship with Noah has become too serious, they decide to go back home. Separated by deceit, the pair continue to grow in their separate lives. Never forgetting their love for each other, fate brings them together again, giving them the opportunity to fight for their love.

This book is about an unlikely pair who meet and fall in love. John is on leave from the military, and Savannah is on summer break from college. As the story begins to develop, and the pair become inseparable, reality comes knocking when they both have to go back to their lives. This is a story of hope, where love is everlasting regardless of the unexpected turns that life throws at us.
This would be a great book to read for high school students, to encourage them to reflect and continue to push forward in life, with the hope that all will be alright.
