Pushing herself through a barbed fence to get to Inchun and safety. In the text, it states, “I heard the dogs drawing closer and I thrust my body under the wire. The barbs dug into me. My hair was caught, my clothes ripped and I could feel the blood pooling in the cuts on my back. I kept going, and finally, I made it through.” (page 164) After making it over the fence they pass out from exhaustion and their injuries. The people are brave fighting for their homeland which is being attacked by Russia.
