1917: Introduction of anime to the world

The first ever anime creation was in 1917. American and European cartoons were introduced to Japan, which inspired the Japanese to create cartoons based on their own culture. Junichi Kouchi and Seitaro Kitayama are known to create the first anime available to a public audience. Immediately, anime became very popular in the Japanese culture.

1917: "Dull Sword"

The first ever anime to air was released in 1917. This production was called "Dull Sword". This anime had little color variation, and gained popularity in the Japanese culture quickly. However, there is controversy over the title of short film to this day due to the fact of a potential anime released at a similar time. This anime still exists and is watched by anime lovers today.

1943: WWII

While World War II was occurring, several anime films were released that gained great recognition. Considering Japan was involved in this war, there were several films released to encourage nationalism across the country. These films incorporated different types of Japanese culture, which ultimately boosted the spirits of those who watched it.

1945: "Momotarō: Umi no Shinpei"

"Momotarō: Umi no Shinpei" was an extremely popular anime film released in 1945, during WWII. The title of this anime translates to "Momotaro: Sacred Sailors". The producer of this film was instructed by the Japanese Naval Ministry to make this film specifically for WWII. This film is a sequel to a similar filmed released by the same director in 1943.

1976: Boom in anime industry in Japan

VHS tapes and machines were released in Japan in 1976. This release allowed the opportunity for several more people to watch anime. Shortly after VHS was released, there was a spike in the anime demand. It became a huge part of Japanese culture, and has continued to grow and improve to this day.

"Hoka Hoka Kazoku" is a popular anime film released in 1976, just when VHS was created in Japan. The title of this anime translates to "Warm Warm Family". This anime is a series, and aired on weekdays. There was a total of 1428 episodes released due to how popular it became in Japanese culture.
