1. Our students come from different kinds of secondary schools in various kinds of English levels. As I have to reach all of them I should enrich my sources. I belive that the listening parts of our course book have full of technical / mechanical drills.Students also want spontaneous, natural, real English items such as songs, conversations from real life, life stories etc... so I sometimes need to interfere in listening activities.I also need to adapt them according to the requirements of differentiating. In order to do this I utilize authentic listening materials and tasks in addition to the course book.
2. Yes, I think it would be appropriate and useful in one of my classes - language class-.They are in B2 level and they are so eager to learn English that they want to study English at university. They have high intrinsic motivation.Through active listening they will improve not only their language skills but also their relationships with the people they make conversations. Because they will be a thoughtful listener asking questions, seeking clarifications, encouraging or inspiring others to share their ideas. This skill will also make substantial contribution to their success during their whole life.

1. The most common problem in my district related to teaching speaking in language classes is that the classrooms are too crowded and as my students are teenagers they sometimes feel ashamed of making mistakes and being laughed at them by their classmates.
2. The ideas and suggestions I have taken away from today will surely help me cope with these problems.Because I have learnt here how to differentiate the activities/ lessons in my coursebook to my students.

1. I adapted 'Car Mania'.
I talked about my hobbies in order to create interest of my students.
In pre-reading stage I asked these questions: What is a hobby? What are your hobbies?Do you know any hobbies about cars?I will show photos about car tattoes.
I used the pictures and hobbies in the book but there is an odd one out exercise there.I omitted it because these are the materials used for the hobbies.I think they are unnecessary.
I wanted the students to guess the meaning of the text from the tittle. At first I wanted them to understand it.
There are true/false and comprehension questions.I used them as a detailed understanding task.
As post reading task I decided my students to do role play as a reporter and John. As the homework I wanted my students to write a letter to a person whom they admired. This person may be John (from the text),Picasso,Sezen Aksu ....In this letter they should talk about their likes, dislikes, interests, skills ...
2. In fact my colleagues would find the post reading activities in my context useful to solve common problems in teaching reading.Because the post reading part is generally ignored by the course book writers or it may not be interesting for students. The elaboration for the pre reading activities should be as much as for the post reading ones.Because they give an opportunity to the teacher to see their understanding and if the students show good performances this also motivates the teacher.

1. I think produce approach is more applicable and effective for my students because they can discuss and share their ideas very well and they can write their masterpieces :)In this approach the mistakes are not their own ones. They are also being shared.
2. I believe that my colleagues would be most interested in produce approach because at the same time they are discussing, sharing, writing together with less responsible for their mistakes. In this approach they would also do speaking, listening, reading and writing. Writing supported by effective tasks will make them active and colloborative.

Reflection for grammar session

- What issues about grammar instruction do you think your colleagues would want to discuss in a PDC meeting? Which one do you think should be prioritised and Why?
I think my colleagues would prefer giving the form and meaning of the new language in advance instead of checking their understanding because they think that without showing explicitly the new language they can not catch it on their own.I always start with a context in my lessons ang give a chance to my students to infer the new item. When I talk to my colleagues in my school some of them say that they haven't begun to study the coursebok yet they have been studying grammar of the same theme separately. What makes them use this method is its being simple with no extra preparations and with no moving students .If I come across these teachers applying traditional grammar translation method I believe that they are going to insist on this with lots of excuses but this will not demotivate me because I have learnt many different activities which will support my ideas.I am going to make them active and show how enjoyable time we spend during teaching and learning process.

2. Yes I believe self assessment could solve some local problems in my area.Students are always tend to blame others but what about themselves. They aren't aware of their learning process. If they can see their own weak points in the process they want more and try to gain achievement. They can also force the teacher to make preparations more and to use different methods.
3. The greatest benefit of being in a Professional Development Community for teachers of English in my local context is to have the chance of meeting new colleagues and sharing together.I am sure that we are going to make contributions to each other's improvements.
