There needs to be someone to manage the creative process, which is where an individual comes up with seemingly simple and random thoughts, and combine, manipulate and transform them into something useful or, in terms of business, profitable. To manage the creative process, as per Wallas' book The Art of Thought, you must be prepared and identify any problems and their solutions, once that is do, data needs to be gathered. Next is the incubation step, where a problem will be worked through thoroughly; then comes the 'illumination' stage where the mind will come up with several ideas for a creative response. Finally, you get verification where the insights and ideas are able to meet the criteria that has been set during the first stage. There will also be a technical director who is the one to act as the most senior technical manager in the company; they identify new processes and production techniques, manage staff, and work with customers and suppliers. A technical director must have significant knowledge of textiles and how they are produced, understand customer markers, know about fabric design, good leadership skills, and extensive experience in a relevant technical role such as the ones previously mentioned. Employers will expect a technical director to be education at HND or degree standard for this specific role.
