There are several reasons to implement accelerated learning for students who qualify. The first being that federal educational policies are built upon age-based grade level. So students are boxed into learning at a certain level based on their age, rather than their ability. This can leave many gifted and talented students bored in class and wastes teacher resources.
Source: Stop wasting money teaching millions of students content they already know.
