In week 3, we started our usrah with Surah Al-Fatihah.

Next, as usual we begin reciting Surah Al-Kahfi verse 1-10 and 101-110 together.

In today usrah, Sr Syahira start to introduce us the three type of tauhid;

1.Rububiyyah

2.Uluhiyyah

3. Asma’ Wa Sifat (The Perfection of Allah s.w.t)

Another topic that she shared to us is about “Why Allah Create Malaikat?”.

The answers to This Question are very simple. The reason why is because Allah want to emphasis his supreme power as the one who govern the universe. Therefore, the creation of Angels serve the purpose as Allah’s slave. Hence, it shows Allah’s power and His Oneness as a god.

Next, Sr.Syahira also shared us about Angels.

This is the most interesting part in today usrah.

She shared a video uploded by Dr. Omar Suleiman tittle “Angel in Your Presence”. A message by Dr. Omar that tell us about how muslim actually have 5 Angels by their side. 2 Angels assign to write the human deed and sin, 1 Syaitaan that seduce you to disobey Allah’s rules and two guardian Angels who are the one protecting us from any harm. Note that, we can only get hurt when the guardian Angels are away from us by Allah’s permission. So, question this to yourself, do you ever almost get hurt but you got saved?. To illustrate, imagine you almost got hit by a car then suddenly you are saved from the car because you step a little bit late to the path or you startled because the car that came shocked you that it bring your sense back. That was when your guardian Angels do the job, saving you.

Other than topic about Angels, Sr.Syahira also told us interesthing story about the origin of idolatry. Idolatry begun in period of Messenger Nuh A.S. His people started to idolize their pious leader exaggerately after their death. They build a statue symbolize their pious leader because they want to remember them forever. From there they started to decorate the pious grave and worship it. They become obsesses with idolatery that they actually put another entiti other than Allah S.W.T to rely on.

In today usrah, our fascillator Sr Syahira tell us about the faith in prophet. As usual, after opening the usrah with Surah Al-Fatihah, we begin to recite Surah Al-Kahfi verse 1-10 & 101-110.

The topic about believing in our prophet suppose to teach us to abide with Allah’s law and stay away from Allah’s prohibition. We as a muslim must believe in the prophet. Believing in the prophet because he is the divine guidance from Allah SWT that send to us for guiding us until the day of the Judgement came.

Sr Syahira point out the giver of ‘syafaat’ as the ummah of Prophet Muhammad SAW to this people:

1. Baby that died on the early age.

2. The Huffaz and Hafiza

3. Prophet Muhammad SAW

4. The one who died during Jihad

   and next, about the one who receive the ‘syafaat’:

   1. A justful leader

   2. The one who regularly perfom ibadah.

   3. The one who his/her heart are tangle to mosque.

   4. The two people who meet and seperate by the Name of Allah SWT.

   5. The one who reject the lust from a woman.

   6. The one who cried when remembers Allah SWT

   7. The one who love to do sadaqa.

Always remember that the Prophet and Messenger are the perfect example for the ummah.

In today usrah we talk about Ihsan. In today usrah, our group combine with another group, so both the facilitators discuss about the topic Ihsan that define as Amanah. Firstly, they share us  The characteristic of Ihsan in a mukmin;

        1.Whom who shares good to others.

    2.Whom who are good to others in the best way possible.

      3. Whom who agreed to others in the name of Allah.

Both facilitators also emphasise about what comes first before Ihsan either Islam came first before Iman or Iman came first before Ihsan. So, the system is like this, Islam came first before Iman and Iman came first before Ihsan. A person who is Muslim does not define its own faith. However, a person who have faith is surely a Muslim. Next our facilitators talk about Ihsan applications in our prophet.

In the story of Prophet Noah. Centuries ago, there lived a people who had forgotten God’s guidance and had strayed from the right path. Allah SWT choose Prophet Nuh to guide them to the right path. Despite all his efforts, not everyone accepted the Divine guidance. He prayed to Allah for help and in response, Allah ask him to build an ark. The unbelievers laughed and joked at Prophet Nuh and his followers as they build the ark. One day, there’s dark storm-clouds gathered followed by lightning and thunder. The one who followed Prophet Nuh was saved while the unbelievers were drowned in the flood. Based on the prophet Noah story we can reflect that he has the characteristics as helping others to the right path in his best way possible as he has helped a lot of people for over 900 years and also help his people in the name of Allah.

In the story of Prophet Ibrahim. In a very young age Prophet Ibrahim confront his father about the worshipping of idolatery shows that Prophet Ibrahim do good to help his father. Other than that, The Prophet Ibrahim (as) had a series of dreams where he was being instructed to sacrifice his beloved son, Ismail (as). He was deeply disturbed by them, and confided in his son, Ismail (as). Prophet Ismail (as) comforted his father and encouraged him to follow the commands of Allah (swt). Once on Mount Arafat, Prophet Ibrahim (as) decided to blindfolded himself while he carried out the slaughter, so to ease his own pain. When Ibrahim (as) removed his blindfold, he saw that by the divine grace of Allah (swt) Ismail (as) was safe beside him, and a ram lay in the place of his son!. Another story, On the eve of a big celebration, Ibrahim knew that the townsfolk would be leaving to share a huge feast. When they had left, Ibrahim went into their temple to carry out a prophet mission: to demolish their idols, except one, the largest idol, so that he could explain to them the error of their ways. All of these event shows Ihsan in Prophet Ibrahim self.

As usual, we begin our usrah by reciting Surah Al Fatihah and altogether we recite Surah Al-Kahfi verse 1-10 & 101-110. In today usrah Sr. Syahira share us about attitude with parents. In this topic she emphasises how we as the child must show good manners to our parents as manners is a process to be kind. This manner is something that we can learn to do it like learning how to respect our parents is the the the biggest W here. Firstly, we should visit our parents if we have free time as well as spending our time with them. You also can visit their grave and recite Al-fatihah for them.

In today usrah, our facilitator (Sr. Asha) emphasise the important of having khusyu’ while performing our salah. Following that, I am going to list out the things we prayed for each of the words we speak while performing salah.  As every good act and things in islam that we do are encourage to begin with the sincerity of intention, I’m going to start with Niyat recitation (intention).

For each salah;

“I turn to Allah the most high with the intention to pray 2 /3/4 unit(rakaah) for Fajr/ Maghrib/Zuhr/Asr to fulfill the obligation for the sake of Allah”

Next, the takbir we do after reciting the niyat.

“Allah (SWT) is the Greatest.”

Dua Iftitah ;

Allah the Almighty, the Greatest

“All praises be upon Him

Allah The Most Exalted of them all, day and night

I stand before The One Who created the skies and the lands

I sincerely submit to Allah and I am certainly not among those who associate Allah with other beings

Indeed my Solat, my good deeds, my life and my death are all for Allah The Lord of all the worlds

He has no partner nor parallel whatsoever, and I have been ordered as such, and I am from those who embrace Islam.”

Surah Al-Fatihah;

Verse 1: In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.

Verse 2: All praise is for Allah—Lord of all worlds,

Verse 3: the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful,

Verse 4: Master of the Day of Judgment.

Verse 5: You ˹alone˺ we worship and You ˹alone˺ we ask for help.

Verse 6: Guide us along the Straight Path,

Verse 7: the Path of those You have blessed—not those You are displeased with, or those who are astray.

Surah Al-Ikhlas;

Verse 1: Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “He is Allah—One ˹and Indivisible˺;

Verse 2: Allah—the Sustainer ˹needed by all˺.

Verse 3: He has never had offspring, nor was He born.

Verse 4: And there is none comparable to Him.”

Surah Al-Nas;

Verse 1: Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “I seek refuge in the Lord of humankind,

Verse 2: the Master of humankind,

Verse 3: the God of humankind,

Verse 4: from the evil of the lurking whisperer—

Verse 5: who whispers into the hearts of humankind—

Verse 6: from among jinn and humankind.”

Surah Al-Falaq;

Verse 1: Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “I seek refuge in the Lord of the daybreak

Verse 2: from the evil of whatever He has created,

Verse 3: and from the evil of the night when it grows dark,

Verse 4: and from the evil of those ˹witches casting spells by˺ blowing onto knots,

Verse 5: and from the evil of an envier when they envy.”

Ruku recitation;

“Glory be to my Lord, the Almighty.”

Takbiratul Ihram(qayyam) recitation;

“God hears those who praise Him. Oh our Lord, all praise is to You.”

Sajdah recitation;

“Glory be to my Lord, the Most High.”

Between the two prostration;

“O Allah forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me, support me, protect me, provide for me and elevate me.”

Tashahud recitation;

“All compliments, prayers and beautiful expressions are for God. Peace be on you, O Messenger, and God's mercy and blessings. Peace be on us and on all righteous servants of God. I bear witness that no one is worthy of worship except God. And I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Envoy.”

“My God, honor Muhammad and Muhammad’s family as you honored Abraham and Abraham’s family Surely, you are praiseworthy, the Great My God, bless Muhammad and Muhammad’s family as you blessed Abraham and Abraham’s family Surely, you are praiseworthy, the Great.”

In today usrah we are having in detail exposure about Zakah shared by Sr. Asha. Other than that we are also need to present our findings in usrah’s task.

About Zakah;

Zakah is one of the five pillars in Islam. It is obligatory for muslim.

A dalil about Zakah;

“Indeed those who believe and do righteous deeds and establish prayer and give zakah will have their reward with their Lord, and there will be no fear concerning them nor will they grieve” Al-baqarah verse 277

Literal meanings: growth, increase, cleanliness, and betterment.

Technical meaning: A determined share of wealth prescribed by God to be distributed among deserving categories.

Zakāh: Bridging Relationships

Purpose: Encourages love, empathy, and unity among Muslims while purifying society of envy and hatred.

Significance: Mentioned alongside Salāh in the Quran over 30 times (e.g., Al-Tawbah, 9:103). Essential for spiritual and social harmony.

Virtues:

Tawakkul: Strengthens reliance on Allah and shifts focus away from material wealth. Assures divine compensation for charity.

Ukhūwwah: Promotes brotherhood and a cohesive society.

Today is the first day of usrah for Semester 2. I am so excited to learn something new and meeting new faces. We have quite a fun Taaruf meeting and acknowledging everyone in the room. This time my usrah is guided by Sr. Asha. Hoping everything goes well along the way!

In today usrah we learn about The Virtue of Sawm.

Begin with The History of Fasting

People in the past had already practiced fasting, for example, the Jews and Christians. Prophets like Musa (Moses), Isa (Jesus), and Zakariya fasted. Fasting existed even before the time of Prophet Muhammad. However, the formal legislation (syari'ah) of fasting came later.

Fasting is obligatory and the third pillar of Islam.

Later on it involves refraining from things that invalidate the fast.

Other than that,Fasting is also in Previous Nations.

The followers of the Torah practiced fasting.

Prophet Dawud (David) fasted every other day.

According to Ibn Kathir, Muslims have been fasting three days every month since the time of Prophet Nuh (Noah).

1. Helps individuals control their desires

Fasting serves as a means to purify the body and facilitates self-control over desires and temptations. When the body and sexual inclinations are restrained, it becomes easier for a person to attain taqwa (piety).

Fasting educates individuals to refrain from committing sins such as lying, using foul language, and engaging in unclean behavior. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

“If someone does not abandon false speech and evil deeds, Allah is not in need of their abandoning their food and drink.” (Sahih Bukhari)

Wisdom from Worship (Ibadah)

Things we do with the right intention to seek Allah’s pleasure.

Specific Wisdom of Worship

-The origin of the five pillars of Islam “Hadith Jibril.”

Purpose of worship:

- To nurture perseverance and patience

-To bring peace

- The benefit of worship is for ourselves.

- Whether we submit or disbelieve, it doesn’t affect Allah’s power.

Benefits:

Performing Salah (Prayer)

The requirement of prayer: Prevents us from wrongdoing. Example: A thief “do they pray?” Maybe yes/maybe no.

What should we do between prayers?

Choose between doing good or evil.

What about religious people who still commit sins?

Something is wrong in their Salah!

- Ikhlas (sincerity)

-Rukun (pillars of prayer)

- Qalbi (heart)

-Qauli (speech)

-Fi’li (actions)

-Taqwa (God-consciousness)

- Khushu’ (humility and focus)

Preparation before Salah:

Sawm (Fasting)

1. Fasting increases Taqwa (God-consciousness).

Requires extensive preparation and adherence to guidelines.

“Every act of worship we do will come back to benefit us,

and we enter Paradise through Allah’s mercy.”

Throughout this task, I have reflected deeply on the teachings and values of Islam. I’ve come to realize how every aspect of life, including education and personal growth, is intertwined with our faith. The importance of seeking knowledge is emphasized in Islam, as the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, “Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim.”

Through this journey, I’ve learned that the principles of discipline, patience, and sincerity in our actions mirror the qualities we cultivate through acts of worship like salah, sawm, zakat, and hajj. Just as we strive to perfect our ibadah (worship) with sincerity and devotion, we must also approach our learning and daily responsibilities with the same mindset.

Wish

My wish is to continue applying the values of Islam in all areas of my life, including my academic journey. I hope to become a person who not only seeks knowledge for worldly success but also for the sake of contributing positively to the ummah and pleasing Allah (SWT).

I pray that Allah grants me steadfastness, sincerity, and wisdom in my pursuits. May my efforts, no matter how small, be counted as acts of ibadah and bring me closer to the path of righteousness. Ultimately, my wish is to use my knowledge and skills to benefit others and to live a life that aligns with the teachings of Islam.
