They states that it might have something to do with their dad Mr. Hardy. I have a feeling someone special is coming to town because they keep talking past tense and talking about old memories. I think that there fathers close friend is in danger. He says in the passage "I need to do this alone. I owe him" This shows the importance and conviction that the father had to do it alone.  This shows how dangerous and how critical the mission is for him

When the father his brother to die the pirates adopted him and turned him to their own. The father got out of the island but I think that he's going to back to the island to take over and get revenge over the brother
