As a father and having a young boy, that boy will look up to you as a god. You are his roll model and not being in his life may affect the way the boy makes his decisions. Although his disappearance from home would make a difference, leaving his troops behind really leaves a message and is a bad look for him and his troops and empire may despise him for his actions.
