What is matter? Matter is everything around you. Atoms
and compounds are all made of very small parts of matter. Those atoms go on to build the things you see and touch every day. Matter is defined as anything that has mass and takes up space (it has volume)
Solid is one of the four fundamental states of matter (the others being liquid, gas,
plasma,Bose-Einstein Condensates. In solids molecules are closely packed.it is characterized by structural rigidity and resistance to changes of shape or volume. Liquid is a nearly in compressible fluid that conforms to the shape of its container but retains a (nearly) constant volume independent of pressure. As such, it is one of the four fundamental states of matter, and is the only state with a definite volume but no fixed shape. The molecules in liquids
are not as tightly packed as in the solids. they have little
space so they can move around.
and also change into the shape of the container.
Gas is a sample of matter that conforms to the shape of a container in which it is held and acquires a uniform density inside the container, even in the presence of gravity and regardless of the amount of substance in the container.
The molecules in gasses are not
packed tightly together and
are far apart from each other.

Matter is a substance that has inertia and occupies physical space. According to modern physics, matter consists of various types of particles, each with mass and size. The most familiar examples of material particles are the electron, the proton and the neutron. Combinations of these particles form atoms.Matter can exist in one of three main states: solid, liquid, or gas. SOLID:solid particles are packed closely together. The forces between the particles are strong enough that the particles cannot move freely; they can only vibrate. As a result, a solid has a stable, definite shape and a definite volume.LIQUID: liquid is a fluid that conforms to the shape of its container but that retains a nearly constant volume independent of pressure. The volume is definite (does not change) if the temperature and pressure are constant .GAS:Gas molecules have either very weak bonds or no bonds at all, so they can move freely and quickly. Because of this, not only will a gas conform to the shape of its container, it will also expand to completely fill the container.

matter is any substance that has mass and takes up space by having volume.[1] All everyday objects that can be touched are ultimately composed of atoms, which are made up of interacting subatomic particles, and in everyday as well as scientific usage, "matter" generally includes atoms and anything made up of them, and any particles (or combination of particles) that act as if they have both rest mass and volume.

HAMZA ALI

In physics, a state of matter is one of the distinct forms in which matter can exist. Four states of matter are observable in everyday life: solid, liquid, gas, and plasma. Many other states are known to exist, such as glass or liquid crystal, and some only exist under extreme conditions, such as Bose–Einstein condensates, neutron-degenerate matter, and quark-gluon plasma, which only occur, respectively, in situations of extreme cold, extreme density, and extremely high-energy. Some other states are believed to be possible but remain theoretical for now.

Matter is anything, such as a solid, liquid or gas, that has weight(mass) and occupies space. For anything to occupy space, it must have volume. Thinking about it, everything on earth has weight and takes up space, and that means everything on earth is matter.

Solid matter is composed of tightly packed particles. A solid will retain its shape; the particles are not free to move around.

Liquid matter is made of more loosely packed particles. It will take the shape of its container. Particles can move about within a liquid, but they are packed densely enough that volume is maintained.

Gaseous matter is composed of particles packed so loosely that it has neither a defined shape nor a defined volume. A gas can be compressed.
