what are you wondering about?Does what you read make sense? What questions are you asking yourself as you read the book?

One of the things I am wondering about as I continue to read the book is how melody has to adapt to all of her disabilities and how does it impact the way she learns and how she interacts with other people not being able to talk walk or write.Another thing I am wondering about is how does all of melody's disabilities impact her every day life because having so much trouble with such small things like wanting food how does she get that. One last thing I am wondering about is how do people find out what melody is really capable of doing like learning and other sorts of things. Yes what I read makes sense. I say this because I am making pictures in my mind of what is happening. For example I am making a sort of movie in my head of the events that are happening at that point in the book. Some questions I am asking myself as I read the book is how many challenges will melody have to face further in the book because she already faces enough challenges already in her life being disabled.

in what ways are you making connections to what you are reading?

One way that I am making connections to what I am reading is what I read I can connect to real life things that have happened. For example, in the book melody has troubles at times and that is same to a lot of people so when I read this I think that a lot of people can relate to melody who have troubles. Another way I make connections to what I am reading is by reflecting to what I just read. For example in the book melody was in a classroom with a teacher and sense melody is disabled everybody thinks she is capable of nothing and the teacher said "if melody brooks can win the first round, then my questions must not be difficult enough. This made me think about how that made melody feel and I thought about if anything like that had happened to me before

What conclusions are you drawing about the events in the book?

Some conclusions I am drawing about some of event's in the book is for example melody gets doubted a lot by other people because she is disabled and cant do every thing normal kids can do. For example as I read further into the book I found out that melody is extremely smart and all of the doctors that test her say she is just plain dumb and not capable of learning and there she is doubted by the doctors for being able to learn. Not only do the doctors doubt melody, but she doubts her self. For example in the book melody went in for a check up on herself so the doctors test her and she acts like the dumb person they think she is now this is self doubt because she does not believe in her self that she can show the doctors how really smart she really is.

Which passages create the best pictures in your mind's

The passages that create the best pictures in my mind is in out of my mind when melody one day gets to go to a fast food restaurant and has a hamburger and she really liked the hamburger. Then two weeks later she want's to get it again but she can not because she can not talk so that creates a picture in my mind of melody frustrated because she can not get what she wants but she still tries to tell her dad that she wants to go get that hamburger and she tries but does not work and it leaves her in frustration and her dad because she cant get what she wants and the dad does not understand what she wants or is asking for.

What are the main events in the story?

Some of the main events in the story are taking in different places. For starters I believe one of the main events of the story is the first day of school for melody because most of the things that happen are from school. For example when melody try's out for the wiz team and she gets all the questions right and makes it on the team and that is very important because that is a huge part of the book because melody gets to prove to all the doctors and all the people who don't believe she is smart she gets to show them she is smart and she is not dumb. Another main event of the book is when melody's mom has another kid. This is big because her sister is there for the story and melody cares about her a lot and is always near her. One last main event is when melody gets her media talker. This is very important because this is now allowing melody to talk.

How does the main character change threw out the story?

The main character Melody changes threw out the story because of events that take place in her life. By this I mean that the events in Melody's life is what changes her as a character. For example Melody can not talk, But about half way threw the book Melody learns about something called a media talker and this allows Melody to talk threw a computer voice. This changes Melody as a character because she can now talk and this made Melody extremely happy being able to finally talk and share her thoughts. Another event that changed Melody as a character is when Melody's mom had another baby girl. This changed Melodies life because she was no longer a only child she had a sister. That is how Melody changed as a character in the book.

Explain the theme of the book.

The theme of the book for Out of my mind is Melody a girl that can not walk, Talk or write. And being that she can not do any of those things she is known as a disabled kid. For Melody life can get really hard at times even the eas things can be really hard for melody. Melody does go to school that is part of the story most of the event's take place at school. Melody gets to be part of something called the inclusion classes where they take the disabled kids and put them in classes with the normal kids. So in the end the main theme is Melody and what her life is like being disabled and life in school.

Explain plot development/event's.

The main plots development/Event's of the story are the ones that changes Melody's life. For example to start The day Melody gets a media talker. This changes Melody's life because this allows Melody to talk and communicate with others threw a computer voice. This changes her life by a huge piece because she can speak and share her opinion and show what she knows and prove to the other kids that think she is dumb show them she is smart. The seconded most important event is when Melody makes the Wizz kids team. This is because this allows Melody to show the kids and doctors that think she is dumb, that she is not dumb and that she is really smart. The last main important is when Melody's mom gives birth to a baby girl making that Melody's little sister. And this is big because now Melody has a sister and is no longer a only child. Those are the main plot development/event's.

Authors writing craft/style

The authors writer craft/style is in the view of Melody the main character. By this I mean the book is in the view of Melody. Its Melody's life from her view told by her. It is not told by the author its in the perspective of Melody and her life being disabled. The other style of the writing in the book is also told by the author. By this I mean that there is parts of the story where the author tells a certain scene. For example in the book there was a scene where Melody had to get a new shirt on and being that she can not move her arms and the part is told in the authors view. The part says "Melody can not get her shirt she needs help!. That is the authors craft/style of writing.

My opinion of the book out of my mind is it is a very good book. I say this because I really enjoyed reading the book. I say this because this book brought me a lot of joy and sadness and happiness. For example when Melody finds a way to talk using a computer this made me happy for melody because she can talk and communicate with others. This book also brought me sadness. For example I was sad when Melody's mom accidental ran over Melody little sister and broke her leg. This book also brings me a lot of cliff hangers it. by this I mean there were parts where I just wanted to keep reading but I had to stop and I was like no let me keep reading!. So over all I really enjoyed this book and my opinion is his book is very good.
