My daughters go to other Gwinnett Co. schools and we had great issues with staying on once we logged in. We were kicked off later in the morning and could not get back on. Her teachers seemed pretty frustrated and told her to not worry about completing the assignments she couldn't get to.

It went well! Almost every student participated in my class. A few parents had questions but overall they were able to complete it without much help. I was able to easily check the student's responses.

I noticed that the lack of connectivity made work frustrating for students and parents. Also, teachers need to be sure that usernames, passwords, and school codes are in activity directions as needed for students. I had some students who worked more than three hours--I feel this is too long for elementary students to sit staring at a computer. Activities need to be shorter, and then maybe students can read or something other than working on the computer.

Parents indicated they were having connectivity issues. I definitely had them. I could not log in, publish updates, and was kicked off several times. It was better early in the day and then later. From 10:30 to 3:45 I communicated with parents via Remind. In discussions with other teachers, it seems there needs to be communication between Gen Ed and Specials teachers about the length of assignments. Families with multiple children attending GCPS may have only one device at home to use. I have 4 children in 3 different non-GCPS schools. This would have been impossible for me to manage at home with even 2 devices.

My family did not have any issues getting on or staying on eclass. We started about 11am and went to 4pm. One of my daughter's high school teachers did not post anything and one of my son's middle school teachers didnt post until after 4pm which should not happen. Kids should not have to check all day for new posts and I know they were supposed to have had it up by 10am.

Many students posted that they were frustrated with eClass not working properly and/or with the length of time that they were working.

I had students posting on my discussion board from 10:00pm Sunday night to 8:50am Tuesday morning, with the bulk of discussion board posts occurring between 11:00am and 5:30pm, hours that, I imagine, are different from what would be expected of teachers monitoring and responding.

As a specials class, I had about 60% of the grade level participate. Many students who did participate mentioned difficulty with needing to share devices with siblings. In looking at the students who did not participate, I imagine that these are students whose parents either did not encourage them working. I also would not be surprised if many of these students either did not have access to the internet or else have only one device that is shared among the family.

My parents did have concerns when they weren't able to complete some of the assignments when eClass was not working properly. I emailed them throughout the day and reminded them to do what they could, and to not get stressed.
One of my concerns is, Do we need an assignment in all areas each day?
If there are multiple students in a family, the amount of required work can become overloading.
All in all, for the first Digital Learning Day, I think it went well.

It went great for my class. No concerns from parents. I even got a picture of a student doing the assignments in pajamas. Everyone turned in the written assignments this morning except for three students. I think we will have some things to work out (speed), but don't we always with computers.

Aside from eClass moving very slowly, I felt like it went well. Most of the students were logged on during regular school hours, and liked the flexibility of being able to work at their own pace. Students were able to easily ask questions through email or the discussion board. There were not any parent complaints or student complaints that I am aware of, except for the connectivity issues. But, even that was only 1-2 parents.
