Similarly to Beth, I think there are still a lot of barriers to break down in terms of opinions/biases regarding fossil fuels by UN member states. Although the UNYD programme is a great way for young voices to be heard, many of my invitations to speak were solely concerning the importance of youth inclusion in decision-making processes, rather than tangible issues and youth opinions on them or work that young people are doing/have done to improve situations/conditions. To get around this, I always made links between different topics, gave statistics, and spoke about funding (quite frowned upon) for young people experiencing the worst effects of climate change and those being impacted by conflict

I work on the Future Generations: Youth Climate Justice Project in NYCI. It is a consortium project built up of different youth/climate NGO's and charities. This year's consortium is:
- NYCI (lead organisation)
- YMCA Ireland
- Concern Worldwide
- Sphere 17 Regional Youth Service
- Macra na Feirme (Young Irish Farmers Association)
- and finally Gaisce: The President's Award.

We work in collaboration on youth-led projects surrounding the topic of climate justice (a mix of climate change and social justice in the face of the climate and biodiversity crisis).

Last year, the young people produced two resources. One was a booklet called 'How to Create Change at the Local Level'. This was created by young people, for young people. The second resource was Europe's first Climate Justice Charter. We are currently reaching out to other organisations and educational institutions to obtain signatories of the charter. If you're interested in learning more, you can visit our website here: Climate Justice - National Youth Council of Ireland.

This year we are hosting a National Climate Justice Conference for those who have little/no experience in Climate Justice as a topic. We hope to bring more organisations into the Climate Justice space.

I echo the concerns of Beth and Diandra. Additionally, it can be difficult to obtain adequate funding for these sorts of initiatives. We are fortunate that the Dept that oversees Children and Youth in Ireland (DCEDIY) offer funding on the topic of Climate Justice, however, there are issues with this still as the funding only runs from May-December, and as many young people take a summer break, there is sometimes only full engagement from Sept-Dec. As such, we are currently working with DCEDIY on a feedback/consultative process to (hopefully) allow future iterations of the project to run in tandem with the school year instead.

This would allow us more time for larger-scale projects, as well as to delve deeper into the concepts and principles of Climate Justice with the young people and their youth organisations.

I echo Beth's comments. An intergenerational approach is very much needed. "Young People" are not a homogenous group and are as varied in their likes, wants, and needs as any other demographic of the population. Young people are also creative, innovative, and opinionated - as they do not often have the "professional blinders" on that mid/late-career adults have. This innovation, paired with experience, is vital to create a society that is fit-for-purpose, and benefits all.

Putting funding or energy or time towards something new, where the outcomes may or may not happen in the way you want them to. But still, you do it anyway because without risk nothing innovative would ever happen.

Intergenerational and community-based action is vital to ensure that these risks are measured and taken on together. The risk is more likely to have a positive outcome with a collective approach, because there is trust in one another's desire to MAKE it work.

Climate change is perpetuating inequalities nationally, felt especially by young people who struggle to find housing, afford food and leisure activities. The wider climate crisis has affected global systems, such as construction, oil production and food production, to name a few. This has contributed, with other factors, to a cost of living crisis, where young people are historically the most anxious and depressed that they have ever been. The experience of being a young person in Ireland is difficult, with challenges that have not been faced by previous generations presenting themselves. Young people bring new perspectives, new ideas, new experiences and sense of urgency to the table. It is young people who will live on this planet the longest so it is important that we include them in talks and discussions so that we can fully grasp their experiences.

I'm working to strengthening the connections between the environmental movement. Although this comes from experience within a more international setting, I've dedicated much of my activism in the last years to NI specifically. Through Climate Craic we faciliate space for connection and conversation in a positive, joy centered environment. This year we brought together 50 sustainability based stalls, from grassroots groups, to NGOs and sustainable sellers. We will continue mapping out the eco network here.

Another key focus is to widen the environmental movement. We're keen to make conversations and actions more accessible, which is why we lean into the arts. By showcasing the variety of ways action is being taken, people can feel empowered that change is happening, and find the different ways they can get involved that resonates with them. There's no perfect way, but there is a way for everyone.

In my paid professional capacity, I work for a company that creates digital tools to help tackle environmental and climate issues. For example, mapping the impacts in a company's supply chain.

My barrier to the goal I am trying to achieve is politicians not doing anything to halt climate breakdown. My barrier is a non functioning government. My barrier is that so little people seem to care about the climate crisis. But personally, I face huge barriers. I can't enjoy my work as a climate activist because I am constantly overwhelmed and there is no real support for us. We are burnt out and we can't hold the hands of people in power constantly, people in power and organisations need to support
