Did you know one of the simplest forms of self-care is drinking water? For most of us, we wouldn't label this as self-care. But have you stopped to think how much water you've had today? 🤔 Water helps your body physically (we all know this) and feeling physically well is part of self-care! Comment below to share how much water you drank today and how it made you feel.

There has been a rise in violence towards Asian Americans since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. As these violent actions continue to increase across the country, many of our friends, family, colleagues, and neighbors are now living in fear. Racism against any marginalized group and violence of any kind are public health issues that not only threaten our physical health but also out mental health. For those who are Asian American, please share with us what we as a community can do to protect you. For those who are allies, share what you will do to help end this violence.

Challenge 3: Care Tags

For some of us, we find it difficult to express what we need from others and what we need from ourselves. We may behave certain ways because of a specific emotion but struggle to identify a healthy way to respond to what we feel. Care tags allow you to identify a behavioral response you have due to an emotion and list what you need from others and yourself to overcome it.

For this challenge, we will create care tags. On your tag, identify 3 behaviors you experience most frequently during the week. Next, identify the emotions that are associated with those behaviors. Finally, list what you need to resolve these feelings. The goal of this care tag is to identify how people in our support network can better support us when we experience specific emotions and how we can support ourselves.

Decorate your tags and be sure to display them somewhere you can always see. Over time, you'll be able to share your needs with people in your support network and build emotional resilience.

Just like drinking water, making sure you eat daily is essential for your health. Taking the time to eat a whole meal or just a small snack can make a difference in your mental health. This is the simplest form of self care and requires no additional time in your day. Set a reminder on your phone to have a snack or eat your first meal. Your body and mind will thank you.
