As we get older, we begin to form our own ideas and beliefs. Instead of following what other people tell us we begin to actually form our opinions and building our worldviews. Lev shows their theme very well, as he goes from being a tithe and blindly following what his pastor and parents told him, to finding himself and what he actually wants in life.

Redemption - how people deserve a second chance

The idea of redemption is mainly shown through Connor, and The admiral, because they are both people who haven't been "good" people in the past, but they changed for the better. The Admiral unwound his kid, and he regretted it so now he helps unwinds survive. He is clearly redeeming himself, this is an obvious example of redemption. This is relatable to our world, since people can do "bad" things, and redeem themselves by doing something good, to make up for the "bad" thing that they did. No one is completely "good" or "bad", but people can be both good and bad. Everyone deserves a chance to redeem themselves

When a society creates laws/the structure it depends on, normally those laws are grown on what those in power/the majority believes in as right, but that can clash with how 'ethical' something can be, such as unwinding many see it as morally correct because it helps others but then the other side sees it as morally incorrect as it harms the unwounded life. This is like the trolley problem, leave the trolley going to save one and kill many, or flip the switch and kill one to save many
