Today, I got my progression sheet signed off by all my previous tutors for each unit so far. I need to get Delta's last signature tomorrow. I completed the SWOT Analysis sheet, Self Assessment sheet and my FMP SMART targets sheet. I did not have many probelems filling these out, however, I do not have all of my feedback for every unit which meant I could only fill out a part of the SMART Target sheet. I plan to continue this sheet once I get my feedback. Despite that, I have learnt what it is I need to do during this FMP project to get myself into a merit/distinction. I need to make sure I talk to my tutor in my next session about how to fill out the minutes of meetings sheets as this was an area of improvement for me in my previous units. This was a really good way for me to see my areas of improvement and see what I can do in this next stage to get into the higher grade boundaries. After reading through my feedback, I have been able to roughly estimate what I should be at now (I feel as though I am at a merit) and what I should get at the end if I stick to all of the feedback given to me.
I still need to complete the smart targets as I do not have feedback for all of my units. I hope to have all feedback by the end of the week so I can complete the sheet by next week.
We had a discussion about the FMP project with Leila and I now have an understanding of the requirements for the project and how it needs to be carried how. despite this, I found that it was slightly difficult to get a full briefing as most students were all in different places due to some getting referrals and not being able to take part, which meant that Leila could not talk too much about it.
I hope to do more work on FMP tomorrow as today we did not get a lot done or get off to much of a start.
Sources:
See Unit 8 Padlet work wall to find:
- SWOT Analysis Sheet
- Self Assessment Sheet
- FMP SMART Targets
https://padlet.com/jayneangelamiles/s8vhkbuq5ivp

Today we got given the official assignment and project brief. I read through and analysed the brief in a write up with all my understandings from it. this is really helpful for me and for anyone to see what I understand and what I am going to be aware of throughout this FMP project. This is also a document I will be able to refer back to over the period of the project and is a good first step into Task 1 for Context.I created a mindmap showing my ideas, constraints, barriers, team responsibilities, skills to develop, research, ideas, requirements and audience. This will be used for my individual proposal plan. I will be able to refer back and see if my idea matches the criteria.
Me, Gabbie and Chloe had discussed our feelings about how we think our group work will go throughout this project and decided to have a private talk with Kirsten (the fourth member of the group) as there seemed to be some tension in the air and it was best to clear it before FMP began. This went really well and we were all very professional and came out with a weight lifted from us and we all seem a lot more relaxed now we have said what was needed to be resolved. This has shown me that I am quite a good leader as I followed through by having a civilised and calm conversation with the whole team. I think this shows my team and myself that I can be a good producer for the production and have success within the role. At home, I completed another mind-map on two ideas, I did these showing the barriers and solutions etc, and then I did a mood board for task 1b showing my chosen idea on Padlet and displaying my areas of research and resources. I plan to write up the proposal for my individual idea tomorrow using the research from my moodpboard and mind-map.
Sources
See Unit 8 Work Padlet Wall for:
- Brief Analysis
- FMP Mind-map
- Individual idea mind-map x2
https://padlet.com/jayneangelamiles/s8vhkbuq5ivp

See my individual idea research on my Moodboard:
https://padlet.com/jayneangelamiles/5akcn2uljyr

In the morning we had a talk in the lecture theatre with a previous student of delta's who is creating a video about 'life swap' this will be a process for someone to be a runner and for people to take part within the casting. For this, I took his details and applied to be a runner for the production.
After this, We went into the motion room and Dave showed us how to set up different pieces filming equipment. He demonstrated the Jib, Handheld Rig, Steadicam, Lighting, Audio and the Track and Dolly. Throughout his demonstrations, I was recording videos on my iPad for me to be able to refer back to later on in the day and for future references. After lunch we went off in our production teams and made 6 productions of tutorials on how to set up and use each piece of equipment, demonstrated previously by Dave. We had 20 minutes to film and return the equipment to the next group for each production. I feel as though this was helpful for us to work under pressure and it was a really good way to test our knowledge on the equipment. I had used the Handheld Rig, Audio and Track and Dolly before but it was good practice to put myself to the test and also practicing leading the team and keeping us all in order. Despite this, I feel as though we started the activity very late in the day. We did not start the task until 2pm and I feel as though this was too long and it made it seem like the end of the day was rushed. I struggled to set up the Steadicam, Dave had mentioned that it was the hardest piece to balance and despite our best efforts, my team ran out of time to perfect this. I would like to have a one to one with Dave on how to set up and balance the Steadicam so I am prepared for future projects, this is when I would have liked more time to spend with the equipment because this affected our set up tutorial.
Sources
See Unit 8 Work Padlet wall for all 6 videos:
https://padlet.com/jayneangelamiles/5akcn2uljyr
Or see my personal YouTube channel to find my playlist of my edits of our tutorials
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_fL025TS47JkV6yvC8-Q_uYdboz0F979

Today I got told that my proposal needed to relate more to my group member's ideas. My team and I got together and had a meeting about how we could all find a way for our ideas to relate together. We brainstormed together and found a way for them to relate. Each of our ideas luckily had a theme of outcasting people because of differences. This meant that we had a relation and added it to our research and proposals. I then went on to updating my proposal. I found out that the proposal was capped at 500 words, I originally thought that we were able to go over that limit but the brief was worded wrong. however, I learnt from my tutor and completed my proposal to the correct word limit. As I had gone over the word limit, I needed to read through my work again and remove unnecessary parts. This helped me see how I tend to word everything longwindedly. I then faced another problem, I found out that it needed to be within a proposal template, I initially thought it was there for support and for notes. However, I copied and pasted my proposal into the correct format and got it all finally completed. I will be presenting my proposal tomorrow.
I feel as though I didn't get as much work done as I would've hoped, due to the issues I faced. I had planned to complete Task 1. None the less, this gives me an extra day to prepare my proposal presentation with my new research. I am a little concerned about our FMP timescale as our deadline for task one was supposed to be Friday 28th April. However, I will be ready to pitch tomorrow with my moodboard and other resources.
Sources:
See Unit 8 Work Padlet Wall for:
- Proposal Mindmap - Recreated
- Written proposal
https://padlet.com/jayneangelamiles/s8vhkbuq5ivp

Today I pitched my proposal to Leila for 5 minutes and from this, I got some good feedback from Leila, she made a point to me by asking how I would manage my team as being producer with us being all close friends. This was something I hadn't thought of too much however, I am going to keep this in mind throughout the project and ensure that I keep the friendship controlled and if there is a problem, not to be afraid to speak up to them. I will need to see them as a team rather than as friends. I uploaded my presentation to Youtube and completed task 1. I got started with task 2 which is the research stage. I started to complete the job role analysis profiles. For this, I researched the job role for a producer because this is the role I wish to be within my FMP production team, a camera operator (a shared role) and a sound operator (a shared role). This was fairly straight forward and I found a good website for me to see all of the requirements of a producer. I intend to follow these requirements within the job role to be as successful as I can. My team and I will need to work together on the others and share the roles equally. In addition, I went on to research industry professionals for producers. I found two producers and researched their biographies. I found this increasingly difficult because their were many that did not have biographies and some were not very well known. I also found it difficult to find their legal responsibilities etc so I looked back at my job role analysis sheets and used the requirements as a guideline.
I still need to find 2 more professionals.
Sources:
See Unit 8 Work Padlet Wall for:
- Proposal Presentation
- Job Role Analysis
- Industry Professional Profiles
https://padlet.com/jayneangelamiles/s8vhkbuq5ivp
Or, see my personal Youtube channel for:
- Proposal Pitch/ Presentation
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGRuJ7bPPbk&t=2s

Today we had a workshop session with Dave and Delta. Firstly, we got into our production teams and got assigned production title and a piece of equipment to use, (the pieces we learnt how to set up last week) My group got the Track and Dolly as the piece of equipment and the production title: 'Why Am I so Alone?'. We to make a short film, within an hour, using the piece of equipment provided. My group used lunch time to discuss plans for out idea, this was a good use of our spare time because it meant that we could get stuck in with the production straight after lunch. I think throughout this project, talking during our lunch breaks about plans could be very beneficial to us. Once we completed our short films, Dave gave us a tutorial on the basics of editing on Premiere Pro. He taught us how to cut clips etc.Once he had shown us how to edit, we got to edit our short films individually using Dave's tips. I didn't think the tutorial Dave gave was very helpful to me as I have a lot of experience editing, being that I did level 2 last year. Luckily, Dave recognised this and offered me some additional tips and tricks into editing. This was really helpful for me in the end because he taught me how to add keyframes onto clips and creating a short animation within the video, for example, zooming on on a part of the image. I hope to use this new technique in future sessions of editing and hope to use it within our FMP edit. I feel as though this made my film look more professional. I also learnt that if we need to reshoot a scene, but we are not starting from the beginning, we need to move the came angle. In our short film, we did this but did not move the camera. This made editing tricky because of the cut between the shots. I made a note of this and informed my production team and that we need to be very aware of this during the filming stage of FMP.
I continued my edit at home as I have the software on my personal MacBook. I feel as though my edit turned out well, however, I noticed that our camera operator for this production had the majority of shots out of focus and some were unfortunately unusable. I would have liked to see the director of this production (I was an actress), step up and over see the camera work as this could have been avoided. I feel as though the quality was disappointing due to this, however, I did a good job at the editing and using the new skills Dave taught me.
Sources
See my personal Youtube channel for edit:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fmk2FNE1PEs

For today, me and my team carried on with task 2 by creating a mindmap each showing our FMP idea and what we need/can research, this involved books, surveys, public questionnaires, etc. This was a good way for us to all sit and talk as a group and decide on our research plans. Once we completed this, we went to the College's library to find books that relate to our idea. We found a mixture of books and we each took two books home. We each created a mindmap for each book showing different aspects of them which can help us for our idea. For example, my book said about how to get the message across within an advert/campaign. This is something we can use for ours and refer back to it and check we have kept to our intended message. Tomorrow, we are going to put all of our findings together onto a big mindmap and show our individual findings
Sources
See Unit 8 Work Padlet Wall for:
- FMP Plans For Research mindmap
- Book research mindmap
https://padlet.com/jayneangelamiles/s8vhkbuq5ivp

Today my production team and I got together and made a group mindmap on all of the books we took from the library yesterday. This was a really good way for us to discuss any additional ideas we had after reading our books and to address the aspects of the books that can help with the development of our idea. Once we were satisfied with our mind map, we got back to our macs and created a shared Task 2 research wall on padlet. On this wall, we posted different links for us to all view and see what each of us have found to help with our research and idea. Finally, I created a survey monkey to post on Facebook to get audience feedback on our idea. In this survey, we asked questions to find out how many people have ever experienced bullying and about their pocket money to find out the demographics of our audience and who would be interested by asking if they liked the idea of celebrating differences. This survey will help us when we start creating our idea as we will be able to refer to what the public have answered and give us a guideline to what they would want to see.
I really like using Survey Monkey, it is an quick and easy way to get efficient results.
Sources:
Unit 8 - Work Padlet Wall:
https://padlet.com/jayneangelamiles/s8vhkbuq5ivp
Task 2 Group Padlet Wall for Research:
https://padlet.com/jayneangelamiles/6i744xfng93b
Survey Monkey:
https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/C7W5RPW

Today, we have another workshop (Task 3). Today we had a photography workshop. For this, Delta showed us a PowerPoint showing the different settings on the cameras and what each of them do. Eg: aperture, ISO and shutter speed. We got taught how to change the settings for each of them and then went out in groups to experiment changing the settings and seeing what works best with different images. We got given a list of categories for what pictures to take. The categories were:
- Pattern
- Colour
- Space
- Texture
- Depth Of Field
I got a good range of pictures, I got 3 good images, showing, pattern, texture, depth or field, colour and space. (One have the majority of them in). I now understand what each setting does and how to change them if needed which I feel will come in handy with any future photography projects and for any of my personal photography. I hope to use and experiment more with these settings in the near future. In addition to learning about the camera settings, I then put my top 3 photos onto photoshop and got an image off line and overlaid it on my image. Dave taught us this as an additional workshop for using photoshop. I was very pleased with alll of my images and the end edited results.
Sources:
Unit 8 Padlet Work Wall:
https://padlet.com/jayneangelamiles/s8vhkbuq5ivp
See Under Task 3 - Photography Workshops

Today we went to Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford. this was a way for us to get a feel for university life and get more information on personal summary write ups, finance, and university life in general. I found the trip insightful and was filled with information which helps me fully understand what university life is all about and what I would need if I was to go down that pathway. Despite the useful seminars, the trip lacked information for media students as this particular Anglia Ruskin Campus does not have any media subjects. I felt this was unfortunate as it was a compulsory trip and we did not get to find out much about a subject we would be interested in. I already know that I do not want to go to university but all of the information given was really good for me to know if I was to ever change my mind. I would like to see the other Anglia Ruskin university campus for me to see their media and film courses. Despite this, after hearing the finance talk, I noticed a lot of students saying they would never be able to afford university after seeing the large figures. This made me think about our intended target audience. Would they be the ones to watch the campaign advert? I believe they would be because they are not in a high class as not many have full time jobs which means they would have time to watch a campaign advert and would be effected by it.

Today, we started off with a kahoot, testing our knowledge on different types of research and what each one includes, for example, what is semiotics? - my answer was symbols. In this Kahoot, I got 10 questions right and 5 wrong. Next time I hope to be within the top 5 on the leaderboard. Once this was over, Leila set us today's task. Today's task was to go to the library (harlow college's or the town's) to find books related to our FMP ideas. Luckily, my production team had already found book from the week before however. We wanted to expand on this research by for some extras. We decided to go to the town's library as last week we went to the college's but it was unfortunately closed. Due to this, we returned back to harlow College's library and found one book related to our FMP idea. We looked through the book and we found it was useful for our project because it had areas about stereotypeing people for genders. This relates to our FMP because we are going to make a campaign video celebrating the differences and dropping the stereotypes. Tomorrow we decided that we are going make a group mindmap displaying different points from every book we have found. For example, target audiences etc.
Our last task was to have a short workshop on how to write our diary logs to distinction standards. I got a peer to assess my previous diaries and left a voice note on my showbie explaining how I can improve. From this, I am going to use my spare time to read over my previous diaries and improve them to get to the distinction level. For me, I need to ensure that all of my diaries are PEE and well developed and make sure they stick to the task and not go off track.

Today was set for us to complete the primary research data for task 2. Firstly, me, Gabbie and Chloe came up with our questionnaires, one for 1:1 interviews and one for vox pops and focus groups. We started with 1:1 interviews in the canteen. Luckily we found 4 students who were willing to participate. I feel as though these went really well as we got two boys and two females which meant it was not bias and they had different sexual preferences which helped when we asked a question about bullying and stereotyping. Each of them had been effected differently. In addition, one participant had completely different answers to the other three. These interviews will help with our production as we can now see and hear who stereotyping and bullying effects and some reasons behind it. Following on from these interviews, we went over to the town and got some Vox Pops. We interviewed one man who was unable to speak much English, however, we persevered and explained our questions as simply as possible and luckily, he understood enough for us to get the feedback we were hoping for. I found this challenging as we had not been faced with this sort of situation before and it was a learning curve for us and we had to maintain our professionalism and allowing him to speak and get our word across as best as possible. We also got three other Vox pops, one being two girls answering together. (Four people all together). Lastly, we got two focus groups. the students used in our focus groups were all from media / photography and gave really good detailed answers, which was to be expected due to them being used to how focus groups work etc. However, next time, I would like to get some people from outside the media department as these questions were slightly more in-depth and more about our production idea.
Overall, I think we got a lot of feedback for us to analyse and take into account when creating our piece. One pair in a focus group said for us to have a unique finale and this is something I hope to take on board when we get to production.

Sources:

Unit 8: Work Padlet Wall:
https://padlet.com/jayneangelamiles/s8vhkbuq5ivp
Youtube Playlist Includes:
- Vox Pops
- Focus Groups
- 1:1 Interviews
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdgd2bkg0r8&list=PL_fL025TS47I3v2ZPoFH8_cClSeomwE8l

Today was our first day of pre-production. Firstly, me, Gabbie and Chloe had a team meeting for about half an hour and worked out who will be responsible for each sheet. This was successful as we equally divided the work load. During lunch, I wrote up the minutes of meeting from the morning as I had taken down all of our notes. Once the first pice of paperwork was complete, we remade a Task 3 padlet wall to share between us, copying a layout Delta had made. This is for us to post our paperwork for all of us to access when needed. The layout is set as canvas which is a new format on padlet. It allows us create a mind map by linking posts and having arrows coming away from each post. I feel as though this is a little confusing and hard to navigate around to find what paperwork I am looking for however, I will preserver by experimenting with it and if I can, moving some of the post around to make it easier for us all to navigate around. to in In addition, me, Gabbie and Chloe created an addition Task 3 padlet set in the format of Shelf, another new format. This format allows us to create categories so we each have a category/ 'shelf' and listed the paperwork we are each taking care of. This is for us to see our work clearer and be easy for us to all see what has been completed. Once we completed the padlets, I wrote up the production schedule whilst Gabbie and Chloe got started on the location visit forms and the risk assessments to go with them. Gabbie is doing the form for the photography studio, our plan A location and Chloe is doing it for our plan B room which is the motion room.
Gabbie completed the risk assessment for the photography studio at home and I started and completed the contingency plan. Tomorrow, we have planned to do the storyboard, shot list, equipment booking forms and hopefully have all locations and equipment booked out for the 2nd June 2017.
Sources:
-Task 3 Padlet Wall remake: https://padlet.com/chloe_13a/fpjlprzkdd3u
- Task 3 Padlet Wall in 'Shelf' Format: https://padlet.com/chloe_13a/gwm2aul9pad
- Unit 8 Work Padlet wall: https://padlet.com/jayneangelamiles/s8vhkbuq5ivp

Today we started with our minutes of meetings and discussed our individual tasks for today.
Tasks completed:
- Storyboard - [Group]
- Storyboard typed up - [Chloe]
- Shotlist - [Gabrielle]
- Talent Release Forms - [Me]
- Location Release form signed - [Chloe]
- Budget list - Completed by myself
Firstly, we completed our drawn up storyboard. We drew it up on the large piece of paper and we took it in turns to draw the images, to keep the work split equally. Once this was completed, Chloe took pictures of our drawings and put them onto the storyboard template from showbie. This task went well and was completed successfully with a good ongoing discussion, reflecting on our research done previously. After this, Gabrielle did the location release form for the photography studio, however, it was only for half of the day we wanted. Luckily, Chloe got the motion room booked for the whole day on Friday 2nd. I was pleased with this room to be booked because it means we now have the morning to set everything us and then film from 12:30 (Which is when the actors are set to be in). Gabrielle also completed the shot list after I wrote it out when drawing up the storyboard. I got the talent release forms printed and 3/4 signed off. I will get the last actor to sign their one tomorrow as they were not in college today. Finally I wrote up our budget list, this was a really good way for me to see where our money will be distributed and how much each of us will need to bring in. the agreed amount is £10 each. Tomorrow we are going to get the location signed off, equipment all signed and final talent release form signed.
Sources:
Task 3 Padlet wall (Group Padlet)
https://padlet.com/chloe_13a/gwm2aul9pad

We started talking about how we wanted the lighting to look, this turned into a small disagreement as Gabrielle and myself had the same idea when it came to lighting, however, it happened to be different to what Chloe wanted and was picturing. This made us have a small argument as we got frustrated with how it was going to look being that we all had different images in our heads. I feel as though Chloe's idea was too over the top for the time schedule we had. Gabrielle and I both felt it was right to keep it simple for us to get a really good looking and professional looking set instead of over complicating it to the point we struggle to execute the idea efficiently. This discussion really helped us because we had a talk to Dave and proceeded to carry out a test shoot to experiment with the lighting to get a better idea of how we can make it work effectively.

Sources:
Task 3 Padlet wall (Group Padlet)
https://padlet.com/chloe_13a/gwm2aul9pad

Today we checked that all of the pre-production sheets had been completed and completed our minutes of meetings. After lunch we then made list of props that we need for our production and headed for the town. We each brought in £10 and I added an additional £2 for the balloon pump which is nothing drastic and I was happy to do so. For our production, we need a mirror and Chloe has got one for us to use however, we went into the British Heart Foundation shop and enquired about borrowing a mirror for the Friday and then bringing it back. unfortunately the mirror they had was not one they were prepared to give away to be borrowed. One member of staff suggested we buy it for £45 and then give it back and get it refunded however, we did not have that money and I was reluctant incase when we bring it back they do not fully refund it. After visiting there, we went into a new shop called Pound Stretcher to see the prices of mirrors in there. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we did not come away with a mirror, but Chloe has got one for us so we don't need to worry. This was all we did today as shopping took around 2 hours due to the amount of shops we went to. Tomorrow, Gabrielle and I are going to label the t-shirts along with Chloe's approval.

Gabbie and I practiced on paper and then used black sharpie pens to write on them. I wrote 'Four Eyes' and 'Asian' whilst Gabbie wrote 'Autism' and 'Ginger'. Chloe approved of the writing and then Chloe suggested we have something around the writing. We experimented on paper with different designs and decided on a mix on short and long grey lines around the labels. this made them bolder and more eye catching.
This was all for today as we have got everything completed, ready for filming tomorrow!

Today we had our filming day.
My production team and I went into the motion room early to start setting up all of the props, such as balloons and confetti and the set up of the lights. This was smooth and the set up had been remembered from the test shooting. Once all was in order, we proceeded to film at 12:30 when all actors arrived. We started off with me as our first actor. The shots were all to a professional standard and the lighting worked well with Gabbie standing in to hold the light. Despite this, we were still figuring out places for the camera to go, as we did not do enough test shoots with the camera equipment, this took up a lot of time when discussing how to go about the scenes. Due to this, we ran out of time to get all the actors filmed. I feel as though this let our production down as we began to panic due to not having another day booked for the studio.
One of our actors failed to mention that he had a certain Tim ehe needed to leave and did not tell us that he had a phobia of loud noises. This was a problem for our production as we landed to have balloons popping and party poppers. We filmed the scenes with balloons and party poppers without him. Unfortunately this caused us to change our last scene because it seemed odd to have an actor missing. I feel as though we rushed his scenes to get him finished as quickly as we could. In addition, we ran out of time and needed two hope the motion room would be free on the following Monday for us to refill the missing actors.
I feel as though we worked well as a team during the production and we communicated well when stress was rising.

To improve, in the future, we need to book another r=day to film in the stdio, even if the second day is needed or not.
sources:
Unit 8 Padlet Wall -

Today we started our edit. Gabbie had completed the rushes log at home ready for today's editing. We got the first scenes edited onto premiere pro and art was a successful day. Gabbie was a successful editor and showed good enthusiasm towards the project. Our edit already looks very professional with clean cuts. I hope for this style of editing to continue throughout.
Chloe and Gabbie worked well alongside each other and bounced ideas off each other well. Unfortunately, I was not around too much for today's editing as I needed to resubmit Task 2 work. I unfortunately got a lower mark than expected and wanted to find out exactly what it was I needed to do to improve my grade. I became stressed and upset over my grade however, I eventually had a 1:1 meeting with Delta to clear up all of my confusion and wrote out a check list for me to refer to when improving task 2. I am happy with the work I improved on and feel like I can achieve the grade I originally intended to get. I always work to a high standard which is why the grade came as a shock to me. I was able to communicate well and project my ideas for the editor as well as Chloe continually working well with her. Our edit is coming along really well and is ready to be exported from premiere pro to then import it into final cut pro. We are importing it into final cut pro to add more effects as this programme can offer more than premiere pro. Due to timings, we exported our premiere pro file and decided to start editing on final cut pro tomorrow. Our editing is coming along quickly and we are ensuring all the small details are not overlooked. I am happy with how it is looking and I have high hopes for our end production for our FMP.
There have been some disagreements along the way however, we are consistently working well and avoiding big arguments.

Editing continued today as we imported our file to final cut pro. Tensions rose as the file originally exported from premiere pro had not been rendered properly, causing a scratch disc fail. this meant the project would not open. Gabbie became stressed and frustrated early on when faced with this problem. Chloe and I did our best to remain calm and give advice for a solution. Eventually, Gabbie solved the issue by re-exporting the file from premiere pro. This allowed the files to render themselves properly and be imported into final cu prop successfully. Editing got off to a start finally, but tensions seemed high due to cabbie's outburst of frustration. Chloe and I continued to work well beside Gabbie's editing and giving suggestions where we could and when she asked for them but she seemed snappy towards us. This started to affect Chloe and I as we felt uncomfortable around Gabbie when we were trying to help. I think we felt uncomfortable as we did not want to argue, being that we are a group of three close friends. I stepped up as producer and tried to calm the situation. We accepted that we were all tired due to the stress of the filming over running but the editing got completed to a high standard today. Dave suggested that we film four addition shots to help build the tensions within our production and get the dramatic feeling when watching it. Tomorrow we will film some close up shots in the motion room.

Today we completed our editing and proceeded to start filming again. We used a new piece of equipment today, the slider. We had all not used this before so we took some time to test out the movement of the camera. Unfortunately, the tripod was faulty which meant the slider tilted forward when pushing it forward. We failed to get a new tripod and problem solved by having one person support the front end of the slider to stop the tilting, after much experimentation, we got a steady movement. After lunch, we got our actors back and did four more shots. These were close ups to get a sense of drama from the eyes of the actors. Our shots were successful and completed smoothly. In addition we edited these shots into our edit and it was now complete. Our next step is to export this final cut pro file and import it back into premiere pro. We are going to do this to add in some more transitions as we find these better than the effects on final cut pro. Luckily, we got it all exported successfully with no problems. We reopened the file to check all files were rendered properly to avoid the issue faced previously.

Sources:

Unit 8 padlet wall - https://padlet.com/jayneangelamiles/s8vhkbuq5ivp

Today we completed our edit. Gabbie updated the rushes log with the additional shots. Our editing was completed to an extremely high standard and I am happy with our results. We have worked well as a team and overcome different problems and stress levels and kept our friendship separate for our professional work ethic. Once it was exported, I created a survey monkey to get feedback on our fmp. We have done this so we have time to make any changes to our video. We are hoping to get a sufficient amount of feedback ready for us tomorrow to begin writing up our findings and make any additional changes. As a team we have worked very well from beginning to end and I feel as though Gabbie proved herself as a worthy editor and her confidence only deteriorated when stress got to her. In the future, I think we should have more breaks during a day to have time to step away from the editing to avoid too much stress. I believe we have achieved our goal of a social action campaign.

Sources -
Unit 8 padlet wall - https://padlet.com/jayneangelamiles/s8vhkbuq5ivp
FMP Edit - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCAkXSRPAwI
Music site for edit - http://www.bensound.com

Today we wrote up a powerpoint presentation ready for our C.A.S.T Presentation. I have also collected all of the survey monkey results already to be written up tonight. To get more feedback, we arranged a focus group with 3 media students and they gave us mostly positive feedback. I will write up the feedback as all of it is something we can refer to in future projects and we can make any changes if they are feasible. In addition, we conducted another focus group with the marketing team. They gave us really good feedback. Part of me was expecting to get more negative feedback but to my surprise, they loved it. I have noticed in our feedback that the camera shots and angles seem to be the most liked aspect. I can strongly agree that our camera angles drive our video from beginning to end and makes it more engaging for our target audience. The feedback is a good way for us t see if our target audience are reacting in the way we hoped they would. However, the marketing team were not within our target audience but they said the video is effective to anyone who is affected by the subject matter. Tomorrow I will complete all feedback write ups and present our FMP to C.A.S.T. Following on, tonight I am going to write up the survey monkey findings and add visual content to my evaluation.

Sources -
Unit 8 padlet wall - s8vhkbuq5ivp

Survey Monkey - https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/BRZWHFP

Today I started to finish off the focus group feedback and complete all of my diary logs for this unit and ensure all links have been submitted onto showbie. After this, we had the C.A.S.T. Presentations. When ours was viewed, we had a negative comment to say that stereotyping was not indicated within our video. We went on to explain how the t-shirts are the labels that are attached to the particular person from being stereotypes. Another comment was made about the music change in the build up to the mirror smashing and I agreed with this. We unfortunately couldn't find any good music to add at this point and the piece we selected obviously did not work for this audience. I feel as though we did not get any positive feedback which came at a shock to us as we had only ever received positive feedback from the survey monkey and focus groups. We believe that it would be wrong to change the term 'stereotyping' to 'discrimination' as the majority found the message was clear. I feel it seems unfair to change one aspect because of one comment made by one person. If we had time we would change the font of the titles and make the last slide stay longer as it was mentioned that it was too quick. After this, I completed the write up for all of the focus group feedback and the screening feedback. Overall, I am really happy with the final outcome of our project and all of the work I feel as though I have produced professional standard work.

Sources -
Unit 8 padlet wall - https://padlet.com/jayneangelamiles/s8vhkbuq5ivp
