         <description><![CDATA[<div>1: Feather plucking can have many etiologies both psychological and related to disease.&nbsp; I would start by showing them certain changes they can make at home to improve their animals life, such as diet and enrichment. If the owners have the budget for it, I would like to perform X-ray and a complete blood count and biochemistry to assess the general state of the animal, and maybe test for circovirus or polyomavirus.<br>2: I would treat the wound topically and maybe consider a collar to avoid further damaging until I can treat them with the right antibiotic and have more information on the general health of the animal.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>My approach would be to first attempt cytology, then debride and cleanse the wound using dilute chlorhexadine or povidone iodine.&nbsp;<br><br>My antibacterial of choice in this situation would be to use silver sulfadiazine.<br><br>To prevent further trauma I would fit an Elizabethan collar.<br><br>I always give a guarded prognosis with axillary wounds.</div>]]></description>

I would start with first-line treatment and explain to the owner the reason why antibiotics are not given straight away.</p><p>2) While waiting for C&amp;S results, I would treat the patient with first-line empircial treatment that was not antimicrobial e.g. NSAIDs. I would clean and instruct the use of topical ointment to reduce inflammation at the legions.</p>]]></description>
