         <title>Persuasive devices...what about &#39;em?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Repetition:</strong> this means repeating what is being said. For example, you will likely repeat a variation of your stance - "Schools should always learn from home", after each point. <br><br><strong>Reasons why: </strong>everyone knows that to convince someone, you often need to make it logical for them. Tell them WHY your stance is the best. <br><br><strong>Social proof: </strong>this can be via a survey, interviews, quotes, all sorts. This is showing that there are others who support your stance. <br><br><strong>Consistency</strong>: make sure that you stick to your point. Don't suddenly begin supporting the opposing point halfway through your piece. <br><br><strong>Comparisons:</strong> offer some examples that support your point. Success rates, happiness levels, 'what ifs' - they're all good. <br><br><strong>Agitate and solve: </strong>say something that gets your audience riled up, and then offer them the solution (that is actually in support of your point). <br><br><strong>Glimpse into the future:</strong> another example of a 'what if' scenario, where you tell your audience what could happen if they do/don't take your side. <br><br><strong>Unify: </strong>try and get your audience on your side, by appealing to their desire to be part of a team/group. <br><br><strong>Storytelling:</strong> this can be a story from you, or a story of someone else. It can even be a hypothetical story (made up) that supports your point. <br><br><strong>Address objections</strong>: someone always has an answer to pick apart your stance. So, don't let them! Think about all of the possible issues someone could poke at your stance, and have an answer for each of them. </div>]]></description>
