The 3 most important things I learned this week about creating instructional videos is making sure the video is a good time length, engaging with pictures and or the tone of the speaker in the video, and making sure there are visuals for people to follow along. These are all key factors to make the video be smooth and engaging for all.

An idea for an informational video that I would provide an overview for would be review over reading clocks and practicing elapsed time. My 3rd graders really struggle with reading time and understanding elapsed time. This is a skill that is on the MAP test and I would make a video with visuals.

The content of the video would explain the minute hand, hour hand, what each number around the clock represents/counting by 5's, and examples of elapsed time. I would create drawings to show visuals breaking down the clock step by step. Seeing the clock as a whole can get overwhelming, so breaking it down piece by piece slowing adding it all together in a video would really help them.
