         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Mesozoic Era was the second of Earth’s three major geologic eras of Phanerozoic time. The name for the era is derived from the Greek term for “middle life”. The Mesozoic Era started 252.2 million years ago, and ended 66 million years ago. The Mesozoic Era came to an end following the asteroid that brought about the extinction of the dinosaurs. The Mesozoic Era was split into three major epochs or periods, these were the Triassic period, the Jurassic period, and the Cretaceous period. The Mesozoic Era is best known as the time of the dinosaurs. In the initial stages of the Mesozoic Era, all of Earth's were joined together, forming the super continent known as Pangea. By the end of the Triassic epoch, Pangea had broken up into the continents of Laurasia and Gondwana. And by the end of the Mesozoic Era these continents had further broken up, eventually forming the continents we know today.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Around 1.2 billion years ago, organisms called stromatolites were widely present around the earth. These stromatolites still exist today. The earliest stromatolite organisms are blue algae, which are thought to have prepared the earth for more complex life by using photosynthesis to produce food and oxygen. These stromatolite organisms declined in numbers and diversity as time went on. A possible reason for this is the evolution of grazing life forms that could have eaten these stromatolites. Stromatolites now live in high salinity bodies of water, where the salinity wards off potential grazers. An example of where you can find stromatolites is in Shark Bay, Australia. </div>]]></description>
