Initial Care- Apply an antiseptic lotion, cream, or petroleum jelly. then a band-aid

Post Care- keep the site clean and dry

Initial care-Apply antibiotic ointment, and then cover the wound area with a sterile gauze bandage and first-aid tape

Post Care- Care for your stitches and wound Keep the area clean and dry for the first 24 to 48 hours after stitches have been placed.

Initial care- Use a normal saline solution or mild soapy water. Try to remove all drainage and any dried blood or other matter that may have built up on the skin

Post Care- Gently wash it with soap and water to remove the crust.

Initial care- Stop the bleeding. Apply gentle pressure with a clean bandage or cloth. Clean the wound. Rinse the wound with clear water for 5 to 10 minutes

Post care- Apply a thin layer of an antibiotic cream or ointment (Neosporin, Polysporin)

Post care- Elevate your wound: Prop your injured area on pillows to raise it above the level of your heart

-avoid contact with blood, and use gloves or a mask to protect yourself from blood

-Proper disposal, putting dirty gloves and dressings in a biohazard container are important.
