         <description><![CDATA[<div>Large navies of the Eastern Hemisphere were attempting to take over parts if not all of the Latin American trade routes, setting Roosevelt to attempt to keep them away. He did this by establishing his corollary to the Monroe Doctrine, which says that the US has the right to exercise military force in all Latin American countries to keep the Eastern Hemisphere out.</div>]]></description>

         <title>&quot;Big Five&quot; of Hawaii</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The "Big Five", referring to five companies: Castle &amp; Cooke, Alexander &amp; Baldwin, C. Brewer &amp; Company, American Factors, Theo H. Davies &amp; Company. They were American originating companies, besides Theo H. Davies &amp; Company, as they were English. They were focused on the sugar industry in Hawaii. They dominated the field of agriculture,  they expanded their business into California, and dominated the trade throughout the world. They took over Hawaii through agricultural means together, refusing to let anyone have any business with sugar before going through them. They ended up taking over Hawaii, small farmers could not profit because it cost too much to produce their sugar, and the Big Five took over their farming because they could do it cheaper. They drove off Hawaiians from the sugar business.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Mexican Revolution</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Mexican Revolution began in 1910. It ended up freeing Mexico from dictatorship in 1917. They were fighting for freedom from the Diaz dictatorship. The United States helped the rebellion several times. They supported the anti-reelectionist movement and helped Reyes (one of the rebellion leaders) revolt against Madero (one of the leaders in the Diaz dictatorship). In return the United States received Texas, New Mexico, and California. It was the deadliest war in the Americas with over 1 million deaths in ten years.</div>]]></description>

Sailed to Hawaii, New Zealand, 3 Australia ports, the Philippines, Japan, and they ended in Egypt on January 3 1909.</div>]]></description>
