The competition between reporters and outlets is that reporters are trying to get the biggest story, meanwhile Outlets are trying to stop it, especially if it will reveal dark things that have been kept under wraps for a long, long time. Leading to Reporters having to dig further and further and uncover more and more dark stuff.

It will take a lot to change people's minds about a topic, especially if it's a very sensitive one that nobody wants or wanted to hear about, causing it to be very hard for reporters to report without people not reading it and getting upset about it.

In our local/state/national media, people who are considered voiceless, can be amounted to people of other races, ethnicity, even age. This makes it extremely hard to get quotes for sensitive topics as voiceless people will not believe that they will be heard, so they will not come forward.
