A few interesting things I learned about Marcus Garvey were:

In 1914, he founded the Universal Negro Improvement Association.

He arrived into the United States at a time when black people were being shown as monsters. They were regularly being lynched. Then he shows up as his eloquent and charismatic self, and is actively proving those ideas wrong.

He believed that black people would never be accepted in the United States, that the place for them was back in Africa, where they could create their own Wakanda-esque home".
