The galleons were large, multi-decked sailing ships that carried silver, spices, silk, porcelain, and other valuable goods across vast distances.

Spanish rulers were a bad example to despise manual labor. The officials reported to work at noon and left early, all the while doing nothing in line with their duties. The women were seen constantly followed by servants who dressed them and fanned them - personal things which they ought to have done for themselves.

Manual labor during Spanish colonization was a complex and contested system that involved various forms of coercion, exploitation, and resistance. The Spanish crown and its colonial officials sought to extract the maximum amount of labor and resources from the indigenous populations, who were often subjected to harsh conditions, heavy taxes, and brutal punishments.

The Spanish colonizers imposed their Catholic faith on the indigenous people, often through violent and coercive means, such as the inquisition, the encomienda system.

Truth is, before the Spaniards arrived on these lands, the natives were industriously conducting business with China, Japan, Arabia, Malaysia, and other countries in the Middle East.

The reasons for this said indolence were clearly stated in the essay, and were not based only on presumptions or opinions, but were grounded on fact taken from history.

The indolence of the Filipinos is a topic that has been discussed by many scholars and historians, but it is not a simple or straightforward issue. Indolence, or the lack of inclination to work or exert oneself, is often attributed to the Filipinos by their colonizers and oppressors, who used it as a justification for their exploitation and domination. However, this view is biased and ignores the historical, social, and cultural factors that influenced the Filipinos' behavior and attitude towards work.

One of the factors that contributed to the indolence of the Filipinos was the climate. The Philippines is a tropical country with high temperatures and humidity, which can affect the physical and mental health of the people. The Filipinos had to adapt to the climate by working at certain hours of the day and resting during the hottest periods. This was not laziness, but a rational response to the environmental conditions.

Another factor that caused the indolence of the Filipinos was the colonial system. The Spaniards imposed a feudal system that exploited the native population and deprived them of their rights and resources. The Filipinos were forced to pay heavy taxes, render forced labor, and suffer from abuses and injustices. The colonial system also destroyed the indigenous industries and trades that sustained the local economy and culture. The Filipinos lost their motivation and dignity to work under such oppressive circumstances.

So, for me these are just some of the insights about the indolence of the Filipinos that can help us understand this complex phenomenon. Indolence is not an inherent or natural trait of the Filipinos, but a product of historical, social, and cultural factors that shaped their lives and experiences. Indolence can be overcome by addressing these factors and creating a more just and humane society for the Filipinos.
