During the choice board, I learned about, Animals Adaptations and Nature vs. Nurture. During our Snow Hare study, I learned that the same species of animal can change colors and other features because of where they live, or what season it is. This happens for the Snow Hare during spring, they change into a brownish color that matches their environment. I also learned about Nature vs Nurture from the edpuzzle. Nature vs. Nurture describes someone's Genetic Traits and their traits that are affected by their environment. Their Genetic traits may include the color of their hair, or the color of their eyes where as their environmental traits may include their how their dry their skin is or how tan they get.

From the Adaptation activities I have learned that sometimes the same species can look very different depending on where they live, the environment. They adapt so they can survive like being able to claw through the snow. Nature vs nurture also has a big role in how things grow and survive. Plants like poison ivy and fish in a larger pond get bigger and bigger because of the environment. Peas crossing had more to do with genetics too.

One thing I learned was that you have to look closer at animals because they may be the same species but just had to adapt to the environment that they are living in now. I also learned that Arctic hares group up and switch off during the night to stay safe. I thought that this was very cool and a great idea to stay safe. The last thing I learned was that nurture is

The Adaptations Choice Board taught me many different things. For example, I learned sometimes a species can look completely different from each other based on their environment and weather. Also, the video taught me the differences between nature and nurture, and how that plays a role in an animal or plant's life. This is important because nature is the environment and animals around you, whereas nurture is quite different. Both of these help animals survive in their natural habitat. These are just a few of the things I learned from the Adaptation Choice Board!

I also learned that everyone is different because of nature and nurture or you can say your genetics and environment. Plus I learned that the Arctic Hare doesn't just live in snow weather it lives in the same environment in the summer. I also found out that some diseases and colors of plants or fruits are from genes. A new word I never knew was Nurture and it means to care for and protect while still growing. One other thing I learned was that carbon dioxide increases the growth of poison ivy and the burning of fossil fuels in the atmosphere increasing carbon dioxide will make more vines grow.

For example, the Arctic Hare's fur coat will change from white to brown depending on the season so it can blend in with its environment. Also, Nature vs. Nurture taught me that even if two organisms have identical DNA, they will have different influences from the environment and their surroundings. Finally, I learned that organisms such as plants will respond to external stimuli in their environment. For example, roots will grow downward due to gravity. As you can see, I have learned lots of things from the choice board activities. -Archie Mignosa

When doing the activities on the choice board I learned about the adaptations of different animals and I learned specifically about the arctic hare. One thing I learned is that animals can change colors to adapt to the new environment. For example, the arctic hare changes its fur white in the winter but then when it comes to summer it changes back to a brownish tannish color. Second animals have learned how to get food at different times. For example, the arctic hare knows that the willow plant is under the ice so he can use his teeth to gnaw at the ice and chew it out. Last I learned that animals have to adapt by camouflaging. This is almost like what I said first but it is very important you see if the artic hare was still brown it would be very easy for predators to see. This would also make the young easy prey. But because they do change their coat the baby's turn white and the mother can make it seem like the babies are snow and look like rocks. This is what I learned about adaptations. /Mason Tate

For example, The arctic hare grows longer, more full hair for the winter, but then when it comes to summertime, the hare will have shorter hair, for the warmer weather. I also learned about how an arctic hare can look very different in summer versus winter. In summer, they not only have longer hair, but it is also white, whereas, in summer, they have shorter hair and based on the habitat they are in, the color will change, except the tail, which stays white all year long. They don't just adapt with their fur however, they also huddle up with other arctic hares to keep all warm, and will jump with their long hind legs to scout for predators. I learned that during the summer their fur turns brown and during the winter their fur turns white. Also I learned that hareses eye color also changes in the summer and winter to see better. Also I learned that hares usually live in the Tundras of Canada. Finally, learned that hares find food by digging down in the snow to find willows.

I learned about the adaptations of hares and how they survive. I learned that Arctic hares protect each other and take turns watching out while the other hares stay warm in the winter. Another thing I learned about is their fur can change color some hares color turns brown in the summer and white in the winter. They mostly live in the tundras of Canada sometimes green land. In the winter they dig or make hut to stay warm and or find food. At other times the Hares can find food by smell or by the memory of where animals are. I all learned about birds, finch came to an island as one species. Their species developed and created 13 more species all from reproduction. These birds aren't known for migrating and use up a great range of their habitat. Also responding to lucy I learned about adaptions and different chartists too!

During this weeks lesson, I learned about the genetic adaptations of arctic hares. How when they are in the snow, they can blend in white and sniff their food through the snow. Then during the summer, they turn a brownish grey to blend in with the bushes and other surroundings. I learned that there is a difference between genes and adaptations. I learned this from the example of the arctic hare. How it can change colors in different habitats and not just stay the color they are born with.

One physical adaptation is its coat which grows thicker and longer while also changing color during the winter. One behavioral adaptation is that the arctic hare stands on its hind legs to be alert of predators. These adaptation help the hare survive in its environment. I also learned that just like arctic hares we have adaptations that we use to make our lives better and survive.

When it is warm out or during the summer their fur is greyish brownish. One important behavior trait is that when it is to cold out all the hares know to find each other and huddle up so they can stay warm. You could also consider this just one of their instincts.

For instance the one of the artic hares behavior adaptation is they go in groups when it is cold and huddle around to keep everyone warm.

During this choice board, I learned how animals have adaptations and special traits that help them survive in their environment/climate change. For example, when we studied/discussed the topic on arctic hares, we learned that the hare has adaptations that help them blend in with their environment by the ability to change their fur color depending on the season to help them blend in. Additionally, the hares have traits that help them to survive with their powerful feet that help them power through the snow to get their food. Also I learned the difference between a genetic trait vs. an environmental trait. A genetic trait is a trait that is passed from parent to offspring and an environmental trait are traits that relate to its environment, for instance, rain is an environmental trait.

They also have thick fur on their feet to have better traction on ice and keep warm. They burrow in the snow and in numbers because it helps them keep warm and helps to lower the chance of predators attacking them.

But they need also need to adapt to the food they eat and the energy they use. And in the summer they adapt to the hot climate. They do this by shedding their fur. But they also change their diet and to more rich and plentiful food.

For example, the Arctic Hare has fur that changes each season to match the overall color of what environment it's in. Secondly, we learned about the difference between a genetic and environmental factor. A genetic factor is something that is passed down from the mother or father. A environmental one is something like if it's snowing, or sunny. Hares have many important features that help them survive.

They dig through the snow to get their food. The hare changes fur color, in the winter the color is white and in the summer they are brown. Next, one of their features is that they have powerful feet and legs to go through the snow. One behavioral trait that the arctic hare has, is when it stands on its legs the hare is looking for danger.

In this weeks lesson I have learned that every part of an animal has something to do with the environment it lives in. The adaptations are the very things that those animals depend on. The fur helps it stay warm, the fur is camo to help it not be seen. It has 20 percent fat to help with the cold. They have powerful sniffers to help find food in the snow. All of this lets it live in the habitat it does live in.

During the choice board activity, I learned about how animals adapt to their environments. I also learned about genetic and environmental factors. Animals will look different depending on where they live because they adapt to their environments to be able to survive there. For example, the arctic hare will change colors depending on what season it is. If it's winter, then the hare will turn white to match its surroundings because it snows during that time. During the spring, it will turn brown to match its surroundings. These are some of the things I have learned during this activity

While I was doing the choice board I found out a lot of interesting facts about hares. For example, I didn't know that they form groups and watch out for each other while the rest eat. I also learned that depending on where they are they adapt to match their surroundings like if it is winter they become white to blend in with the snow. They also live all over the place from the tundra of Canada to the Arctic islands and Greenland. Their color also depends on where they live like some hares are brownish with blue-gray tones and some are mostly white in summer with spots of brown on the nose, forehead, and ears. Those are just some examples of the many things that I learned about hares this week.

From the choice board activity, I learned more about hares & how they survive. They can change their fur color during different seasons so they can blend into their environment & away from predators. In the winter they are white so they can blend into the snow. In summer they turn a brownish color to blend into trees and dirt. The 2 articles helped me understand how the mothers take care of their babies. I also learned what they eat.

I learned a lot about the Arctic hare how they hunt for food are how they build their homes. The Arctic hare lives in the tundra. They go hunting in the woods for berries and maybe nuts, then they go and build their shelter under a nice and cold place so that they don't get too hot. In the summer they sit in the sun all day because they have been in the cold for months. I learned how they take care of their offspring and how they feed them By Fiki

I learned that the arctic hare is an animal that lives in the tundra( or in the snow). These animals have multiple adaptations that help it survive. They have a rotation in colors from summer to winter. During the summer they are brown and gray while maintaining a whitetail year-round. During the winter they become white with black-tipped ears. These arctic hares have a normal diet of berries and twigs in the summer, but during the winter they mostly have willow trees. Additionally, they have multiple adaptations such as staying in groups, long claws to dig, or the ability to remain silent and motionless for multiple hours. By Zachary Maes

I learned , first of all, that rabbits change fur during seasons. These rabbits are constantly alert, they have to feed their family, making them out in the open for predators. They also have to learn to be completely still while they are only a few months old. Rabbits are very amazing creatures, and can run very fast when having a head start. They improvise with their teeth if the snow is icy.

I learned that arctic hares in the summer have a greyish brown coat. And in winter they have a white coat.

I learned that Arctic Hares are very interesting animals and may look different depending on what time of year it is and what area of the tundra they are in. If it is summer they could be brownish blue gray and if it is winter you might not see them at all because they will be all white. Arctic Hares can eat moss and berries however most of the time they eat willow. The have a very strong sense of smell and can even smell the willow if is under the snow. They can reach speeds of 64 km if they are being chased. The young Arctic Hares can sit for still to hide from predators.
