Students completed their own interpretations before reading the interpretations of students from DAV public school. Students were surprised to see similarities in their interpretations despite living on the other side of the world. They thought it showed that mental health is independent of culture, culture may influence it but across cultures people experience poor mental health. Despite growing up in different countries, symbols such as butterflies and bandages have a similar meaning to us. Mental health is something we can unite and work together on, perhaps we can learn how to improve our mental health from different practises different cultures or countries have.

Each student perceived this picture from their perspective i.e. how they see the world , how they relate the patterns in the picture with real life situations.
For some students, butterflies symbolize rebirth while some used them as metaphor of duality of life. Some students took bandages as suffocation or binding situations in one's life whereas some took them as healers. This, in fact is the beauty of human nature that we tend to see only with our preferred glasses.
Students of our school worked in collaboration with Kingswood Academy, UK to understand the essence of mental health. It was overwhelming for our students to read the responses of the students of their partner school. Despite the demographic and cultural differences, we all human connect on certain points. As quoted by Carl Jung "We all share the same collective unconscious" this make us feel connected at universal level. We all feel the emotions in the same way.

"I can shake off everything as I write; my sorrows disappear, my courage is reborn."- Anne Frank
This picture for me in its true sense symbolizes a route to courage and resilience by writing and speaking up about my despair. Though I am guided to hide behind a wall of insecurities and I am blinded as well as silenced by bandages of other people's perception about me. I shine through the melancholy darkness and brighten the world by speaking up. These butterflies stand out the most yet they simply represent the force of my words. Just like how these butterflies are adding optimism to this atrocious world, my words have the power to beautify the repugnant and grim sections of my mind and eventually of the society.

This image resembles being trapped in your own mind. Life has got on top of you and you no longer know which way to turn. The bandages could represent the victim feeling blind, unable to find the light. The victim feels like a puppet in their own life, they are not in control, they are trapped and stuck. The bandages could also symbolise mental injury or illness. The butterflies represent hope lying just ahead. Hope is closer than the victim realises because she is blind.

Hands on head could symbolise overthinking and how this can lead to feeling trapped in your thoughts. There are so many opinions people can voice through social media that it can feel overwhelming. This person looks like they have experienced depression and injury however there is always hope. This is shown by the butterflies coming to help this person heal.
