I picked up dancing when I was 3, but when the pandemic came, my studio had to switch to online. I had to install a ballet barre in my extra room and have a full setup that could have enough space for me to move mostly freely. I was stuck at home, couldn’t see any of my family or friends, and had to hope that when my mom went to the grocery store every week that she wouldn’t get sick. The day after school was let out, my family and family friends fled to North Carolina. Watching the headlines, we were concerned when the national cases were reaching the 50s. Then, the entire country was shut down. We were worried we would be stuck in North Carolina. I tried talking to my friends, who were all still ecstatic from the fact that we were getting a “3 week long spring break”. I even remember my teacher, Mrs. Balzano, yelling at a student who was getting everything out of her locker. She claimed that we would come back quickly and everything would be normal.
