To check for TB a health care provider will administer an TB Skin Test.
A TB skin test consist of a small amount of tuberculin being injected into the forearm. After the injection the patient would need to return in 48 to 72 hours to have the test read. Upon reading the injection spot would be measured in millimeters. If there is no reaction it is negative, if there is a reaction it is positive. After a positive TB skin test the provider would then order a phlegm sample or a chest x ray.
