Chute, Hillary L. Why Comics?: From Underground to Everywhere. , 2017. Print.

The book analyzes the historical and thematic aspects of comics of the past decades by answering questions that general readers might have. As the book touched on various comic books and authors ranging from underground to independent ones, Hillary Chute subverts the conventional impression of comics. In the chapter Why Fans?, she moves on to discuss more about comic-cons. Hillary Chute emphasizes how comic-con is a production of democracy and a platform to present a vibrant cultural mash-up by presenting the history and her own experience of attending comic-cons. As comic con provides a panel for fans to share information, it builds a community that can help people feel belongingness.
