If the women in Jackson found out the book was written about them, they all would deal with the consequences. Minny and Aibileen could both lose their jobs and recommendations for future jobs anywhere near the area. Their families and individual safety would also be in danger. Skeeter does not have to worry about physical safety but social rejection. Thankfully, Skeeter receives a letter from Harper and Row for their magazine. The fact that Aibileen and Minny encourage her to go for it shows the growth between the three.
