A proposal for implementing a comprehensive infection control education program for healthcare professionals within the Saskatchewan Health Authority. The aim of this program is to deepen the knowledge of healthcare professionals and provide them with the necessary tools to deliver high-quality care to their patients. If adopted, this program will be offered as an optional course to serve this purpose.

In healthcare settings, the rate of infection spread can be drastically reduced with proper education and training. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), HAIs result in about 1.7 million infections and 99,000 associated deaths each year in American hospitals alone (CDC, 2020). The situation is not so different in Canada. According to the Public Health Agency of Canada, over 200, 000 Canadians acquire nosocomial infections annually, with over 8,000 dying from these infections.

My goal is to introduce an innovative program that not only teaches infection control practices but also utilizes various teaching modalities to ensure information retention and application.
