When he gets off his knee, it means he is willing to follow this ceremony and the ceremony's rules. Steady Eddie was the one that came up with the name. It says,"I got it, we'll compromise. How about Sleepy Labone." Steady Eddie came up with the nickname and Bud liked it. In the text it says,"Steady said, 'My man!" and Bud said,"That was about the best name I'd ever heard in my life!" In the picture on page 377, Bud and the rest of the men are laughing, clapping, and having a good time. Ms. Thomas had a very different reaction. She said that "The only thing I can hope is that the process has improved since you four were given your names."
