Comparison of Lesson Objectives Using Bloom's Taxonomy

Old Lesson Objectives

The first old objective, "Give responses by using ‘He/She does not______’," falls under the level of Remember/Understanding. This objective focuses on basic recall of sentence structure without facilitating deeper engagement from students.

The second objective, "Describe people using adjectives," is categorized at the Understanding level. While it allows for simple descriptions, it lacks opportunities for analysis or application, limiting the depth of understanding.

Lastly, the objective "Match adjectives with picture cues and definitions" is positioned at the Application level. This objective emphasizes basic application of knowledge through matching, but does not challenge students to think critically.

New Lesson Objectives

In contrast, the new objective "Identify how to use the structure 'He/She does not ______' by providing examples" is placed at the Understand/Apply level. This adjustment maintains a focus on knowledge while encouraging active participation through the generation of examples.

The new objective "Compare and contrast different adjectives to describe people" elevates the focus to the Evaluate level. This shift moves beyond simple descriptions, prompting students to engage in higher-order thinking by analyzing and evaluating adjectives.

Finally, the objective "Create short descriptions by using adjectives to match with picture cues and definitions" is categorized at the Create level. This encourages application of knowledge, as students construct original sentences, fostering a more engaging learning experience.
