The content focuses on an issue of labor camps that you wouldn't normally see or hear of, especially because it takes place in North Korea. Because of that, it makes me even more interested in finding out what someone had to personally deal with. It also leaves the preface off with a cliff hanger stating how Shin, the main character, was the reason for the deaths of his mother and brother. This really made me even more invested in the book and finding out what happened. I also really liked how the book is told in a story kind of format which makes it much easier to follow.

Mitchell Zuckoff starts off by giving  a lot of background information on all of the main characters of this book, and retelling the history of Libya and Benghazi. This book is a memoir of Collin's first four years as a surgeon. My first impression of this book is how personal it is. It shares Collin's inside thoughts and decisions regarding his career. He speaks with a lot of personality which will make the book more compelling. He is not afraid to express his truthful emotions including fear and embarrassment. So far, this story uses large medical terms and involves situations I am unfamiliar with, but I feel that I will be able to obtain a better understanding of the medial world through this book. I already feel locked into the book. The author not only describes the events of Shin's life as a North Korean born slave, but also includes details about his life afterwords. I like how the author incorporates his encounters with Shin as he becomes a very reliable source of North Korean camps to the outside world. What I especially find interesting about this book is the introduction. The author compares and contrasts Shin's experience to Elie Wiesel's famous book, Night. It describes the setting of this farm house in this isolated area called Holcomb, Kansas. I like how Capote gave every character a back story of what is their interests, medical problems, and appearance. I think it gives a better way to help visualize the characters. I also like how the sections are broken off to focus on one character at a time instead of being all the characters at once. The novel empowers me while simultaneously making me realize how lucky I am. She talks of privilege and how everyone has some sort of privilege. I found this really insightful. I also enjoy her out of the box way of writing. Rather than it being a narrative text, it´s more conversationalist. I never realized how in depth Libya's history was with and left me asking many questions. It talks about the split between Libya's two main port cities, Tripoli and Benghazi. Also, the book went into great detail giving a first person accounts of the struggle many endured. It tells us how in Benghazi many of the people lived in compact and dirty conditions. My impression of the book is that it is very compelling by giving a backdrop for what is to come. The author has a very  sarcastic tone which I personally enjoy. In just the first few chapters he has shown how the reality of a surgeon's life is far different from how it is portrayed in movies and television. I really liked his dry humor and his narration especially when he focuses on his insecurities and his deeper feelings. The book is looking at a town on the border of the US and Mexico, it then starts explaining why the north and south are differences by looking at the colonization of the Americas. The book so far likes to look at the big picture and point out the underlying faults that cause a nation to not prosper. Her writing style tends to switch around a lot as she talks about her experiences with the Prozac Doctor and her childhood, but despite that it's still fairly easy to read and comprehend. Also, since the book is nonfiction, It helps me sympathize with the characters.

The Law of Nations details the duties of government, and the power that citizens hold in any government. However, it should be noted that the ideas discussed in the Law of Nations are back by sound logic, but not practical evidence. I treat the law of nations a lot like solving a puzzle, but in this sense the book comprises the puzzle pieces and the thoughts of the founding fathers constitute the image. The Law of Nations seems like it will provide a unique view of the values of the citizen in a monarchy. I found it especially paradoxical that the concepts which Vattel uses a monarchy to introduce are equatable to the values of a democracy. It makes you feel like you have been reading the book for a long time, and you know the situation already because of how well they describe the plot and the characters. Each page keeps you wanting to know more about the family and how it is falling apart, and how it is affecting the child and his mind. You can easily tell that there is so much truth in what happens, by the way the author describes how the characters acted and what they said. The author pays a lot of attention to detail in order to further describe the setting, which provides for great imagery. I also took notice of how the author has chosen to set up the book, he first begins by describing characters, settings, and certain situations, which interestingly would then be followed by statements such as, ¨unaware that it would be his last.¨. He uses these descriptions of things such as family life, Kansas, and the river valley to provide a basis of life before malicious events occur.These statements at the end of his description concerning a certain character kept me interested in what I was reading, as well as create  suspense, making want to read more about how this presumably happy family in Kansas is about to experience something terrifying.

The book from the first few pages and from reviews displays a very raw look upon feminism. As well it does not follow the common textbook like reading but more of a personal touch to it with witty quotes as well as a conversational style. It is very honest and highlights many aspects of feminism as well as a personal look on it. Gay puts herself into the book and illustrates her opinions and views through her own experiences.
