This picture describes, in my opinion, what can happen if the management hiring process is not thoroughly thought out. As we discussed, Management is definitely necessary and important, but the wrong manager can harm an organization. If there is a manager in charge and they are performing well their workers may quit the job or even mentally check out. This picture describes that perfectly to me. The manager, being the woman on the right, is trying to tell her workers which way to steer, but none of them are listening to what she has to say. Although what she is saying is important, they obviously don't believe that is so, so they are not following their manager and this could end bad for the company.

Some different types of managers are top-level managers, middle managers, first-line managers, and team leaders. All of those managers are important in the process of work. Everyone along that like has to be able to work together regardless of "who's in charge". This picture is funny to me because so many people have this mindset. We have to remember that no matter what the task is we are somewhat in charge of something.

Unfortunately there are a lot of times when we just cannot come together and work as a team because we all do not share the same values. This GIF shows that no matter what we are or where we come from, we can work together despite the differences.

This articular talks about how globalization impacts economic growth. A lot of people assume that the costs outweigh the benefits when it comes to globalizing an organization, but the economic growth that can come from it is outstanding. It can make the markets more efficient and increase competition.

When it comes to globalizing a business the organization has to have a strategy. They cannot just wake up one day, decide it would be a good idea, and then boom globalization is complete. We learned about four different global business strategies and this GIF coordinates with that very well. "LET'S SEE IF IT PAYS OFF". That statement is true. There could possibly a strategy that is not going to work well for a certain business and what they truly want their plans to be. They need to take in to account all of their goals and plans and choose the right strategy so that it does pay off for them.

This was such an interesting topic to me because it is a great way to boost morale in an organization which leads to increased production and quality efforts. If you empower your employees it gives them the boost that they need to do better. This strategy gives the employee's the authority to make decisions and even mistakes. This little GIF is funny to me because we all know that Oprah gives away things all the time so with employee empowerment it gives some people the opportunity to do just that, mistake or not.

We always hear about how interviews should go and how we should act and responds as the individual interviewing for the job, but rarely to hear how the manager should be interviewing. This module gave us a lot of insight into interview techniques that managers should use. One of these techniques is active listening. I am sure we have all went to an interview and felt like the person couldn't have cared less about what we were saying and is a sense didn't even listen to us at all. Active listening shows that the manager wants to know and learn about the candidate and show that they are interested. Nodding, asking follow-up questions, smiling, other body languages to encourage the candidates.

Normally when someone takes on a job they feel they know what is expected of them and will want to make a good impression (hense the GIF, "Let's do this") Most people are ready for the challenge. Some of the ideas that people walk into a new job with are by word of mouth or prior experiences, and some of the time these ideas don't really match up to the reality. Orientation and training for a new employee is super beneficial. It helps the employee to gain a new confidence and understand the company's system, people and expectations. It also helps the employee to build skills and relationships.

These people centralize the decision-making power in the leader. They do not entertain or acknowledge any input from subordinates. It can definitely be effective in quick decision making, but it is very ineffective for maintaining any type of employee satisfaction. I see these types of leaders always yelling their demands, not caring about the impact and affect it has on their subordinates.

One thing that I find extremely important for someone to be a great leader is for them to be willing to change and be trustworthy. No one wants to work for, and make happy, and individual who cannot admit to their mistakes and lie about various things. You can lose trust in a second, but building it back takes a lot longer than that. Great leaders need to make sure that they can adapt to new salutations and always tell the truth even when its not what everyone wants to hear.

If your employees are motivated it gives them a reason to look for a "better" way to complete tasks, be more quality-oriented, and work with higher production and efficiency. If your employee is motivated then they are energized and ready to complete the next task at hand. If you are consistently downing your employees or not motivating them, you are definitely not going to get their full potential.

Employee evaluations are something that I dread every year for my job. For our evaluations we write them up, they then go to our higher ups for them to change around what they deem necessary and then we (everyone of the same pay grade) gets ranked against each other. One of the main things I despise is having to essentially brag about myself, if you asked me what I do every day I would answer my job. But on these evaluations we have to literally name everything and honestly exagerate. However, these evaluations do give our command a regular measure of performance for all of us and provides opportunities to take corrective action and advise in areas that could use some improvement. Needless to say, although a pain, they are 100% necessary.

One thing to keep in mind as a manager is that you are also a problem solver. You have to be able to fit that last piece into the puzzle. You have to understand what is contributing to the problem at hand and what is being impacted, then figure out a solution. If you have any issues in the problem solving process then more than likely the corrective action will be unsuccessful.
