In the film Happy Death Day you can see the different camera angles used such as a close up. Music is also used in this scene to create suspense and keep the audience watching.

A man and a woman walk slowly down a curved, stepped alleyway, the camera is tilted at a low angle with the lighting shadowing out their features. The directors purpose of using this low angle shot is to create curiosity of the viewers wondering where they are walking to as we cannot view where they are going. They enter a vast and eerie room, with various drawings of bodily anatomy presented on the curved walls around them. A woman enters the room, and the music (non-diegetic sound) playing in the background spikes in intensity. The woman reveals the requirements of the sacrifice, of which are depicted around the room. The whore, the athlete, the scholar, the fool and the virgin. These are representations of the group of friends, which, as the lady says, “all suffer and die at the hand of whatever horror they raise.” They are sacrificed to what the lady describes as the ancient ones beneath them, without this sacrifice the world will end and everyone will die suffering. The scene offers multiple close up shots where the conversation between the fool and the unknown lady becomes intense. The virgin finds herself in a clash of morals, and we are presented with an over the shoulder shot of the fool's shoulder and we see the virgin holding a gun with the intention to kill the man. The over the shoulder shot lets us view the virgin holding the gun how the fool will see it, the director's purpose of this is to create shock for the audience.

There is a close up shot which transitions it into a two-shot. The close-up was used to show the fear in Tree’s face and as it transitioned into the mid shot we see Toombs in the background about to attack. These shots were used along with silence which transitioned into a growing crescendo of suspenseful music which added even more tension to the scene and had the audience on edge. The growing crescendo of music in horror movies are important to make the audience feel on edge and scared. It sets the tone of what the scene is going to be and builds that tension and makes the audience wonder what is going to happen next.

In the very first part of this scene we see Tree walking through the door holding an axe. The camera is up close to her face so the audience can see the fear and worry that she is feeling, but it is also showing us that she is determined to figure out on how to get out of this repeated cycle of living the same day because she wants her life back. 

In Happy Death Day we see Tree change for the better throughout the film. As at the start of the film she is shown to be self centered and doesn’t really care about anyone else but in one of the last scenes we see Tree kill herself to save Carter and make sure that he survives and doesn’t permanently die. This shows how Tree has grown and changed as a person for the better as she is shown to know care about others and their feelings. 

In this scene the Non-Diegetic sound is very noticeable, there isn't a lot of dialogue so the music is there to fill in the silence. At the start the music is very ominous however when we discover that the killer is behind her the music swells to a stop when he kills Carter. Then the music changes again when Tree realizes that she will be killed next. Acting fast she runs into the church as she runs down the hospital hallway lit with unsettling light the camera angle becomes tilted and we follow her as she runs into the church. When she realizes Carter is dead the music turns very slow and sad, however calming, which is very different from the suspenseful loud music that was playing before. When comparing this final scene to the beginning of the film we can see how much Tree has changed. It started with her rushing out of his dorm room not even wanting to know his name and ends with her killing herself in order to keep him in her life. 

In this particular scene character development is a key feature. We see this from how Tree reacts between the choices of saving herself and killing her suspected murderer or saving Carter and having to die and go through her birthday again. Close-up shot is an important camera shot that is used at the start of the scene when Tree walks into the hospital room where Toombs is supposedly staying. This camera shot shows Tree’s expression when she enters the room and from that the audience get a rush of adrenaline and a mix of apprehensive feelings. This shot also captures the way she holds the axe , we can see a hint of bravery and confidence but overall there is an overwhelming tension and fear. We see this by the way she breathes heavily, the constant turning of her head as well as her facial features and expressions symbolising all-inclusive fear and paranoia. The Close-up shot then transitions into an over-shoulder and focus shot that then shows Toombs with the baby-face mask behind Tree.Transition is another great technique that is used in this scene to flow everything out from how the camera shots are transitioned or how the music transitions from part to part, high to low. This technique helps envelop the audience overall with Tree’s character development.
