-Trench Warfare was where soldiers fought in trenches
-It was used to protect themselves from enemy fire.
Armies traded huge losses of human life for pitifully small land gains.
-Life in trenches was misery
-Men slept in mud, washed in mud, ate mud and dreamed mud. 
-They were littered with rats.
Sleep and fresh food was rare.
-In the open spaces was where soldiers were ordered to attack and met rounds of machine guns.
-Artillery fire brought death right into the trenches. 
-New tools of war was machine guns, poison gas, armored tanks, and larger artillery.
WORLD WAR 2
-Germans used Blitzkrieg or "lightening round" to invade Poland.
-They employed air strikes, fast tanks, followed by soldiers who sped into battle by trucks.
-Military jet planes were added into the war and added speed to fire power.
-The Atomic bomb was made and created a explosion that caused massive damage and cause radioactive aurora.
-Similarities-
-The similarities between these weapons and artillery was that they used the latest technology.

- The allies won the wars because
  they were able to get the US on their side.  The US had the potential to send millions of men and huge amounts of materiel into the war. 
-The war changed women’s lives They showed society that they were able to do men’s jobs and were intellectually more than capable of taking part in society.

-Arms race which gave rise to new military technologies and increased defense spending
-Shaped culture, the media and public opinion
-Press held up military leaders as heroes , painted rival nations as aggressive and regularly engaged in 'war talk'

World War 2 militarism:
-Germany turned to a totalitarian form of government eventually led by Adolf Hitler
-Hitler felt disrespected in Versailles Treaty
-Build up of German military
-Italy felt disrespected
-Build up Italy's military
-Build up Japanese military
-Germany, Italy, and Japan eventually formed an alliance that was called the Axis Powers 

What is the concept of an alliance?
- An alliance is when two or more firms come together to create a unique organizational entity in which each firm retains its individual identity and internal control.

The upside of alliances are:
- creates hope
-gives a feeling of security and support
-safety net
-boldness
The downside of alliances are:
-Bound countries together and created a precarious situation in the region
- many secrets add to problems

Imperialism-
-a policy of extending a country's power and influence through diplomacy or military force
-One example of imperialism in WW1 is the British Empires propaganda slogan " The Sun Never Sets On Britain".

Nationalism-
-patriotic feeling, principles, or efforts
-Nationalism helped cause the war because attitudes and over-confidence were fueled by things like provocative speeches or press reports

The Allies included Britain, France, Russia, Italy and the United States. These countries fought against the Central Powers which included Germany, Austria-Hungary, Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria.

- The Treaty of Versailles was the most important of the peace treaties that ended WWI
- The treaty ended the state of war between Germany and the Allied Powers.
- The league of nations would form to make sure things could be discussed by major world powers.
- All the blame for the start of the war was put on Germany
- Although the Versailles Treaty was very flawed.
- It made territorial and military changes to Germany which upset and greatly impacted Germany
- Germany would pay 33 billion dollars in reparations.
- The damage done to Germany because of the treaty would lead to the events that started WWII
-The Treaty of Paris would end world war 2.
The Treaty of Paris was signed on 10 February 1947, as the outcome of the Paris Peace conference
- The major powers met together informally 145 times and made all the major decisions, which in turn were ratified by others.
