The story consists of the Salem Witch Trials which was inspired by a combination of the Puritans immigration and the theology of Calvinism. Calvinists believed in total depravity, predestination, limited atonement, and theocracy, or a society controlled by God. With this, came the belief that Satan was alive and well, recruiting people that were known as witches and warlocks.
