Most of them took place in 2018, but the situation has gotten worse since. In 2018 alone, there were 1,879 attacks on Jewish people. Throughout the country, there was "a wave of anti-Semitic robocalls targeted Jewish schools, JCCs and synagogues, and a significant number of incidents occurred at K-12 schools and on college campuses." According to the article, the rate of Antisemitic attacks is at an all-time high in the US. For example, at the 2018 Dyke March, hundreds of speakers declared that “Zionists cannot be feminists.” Another example of antisemitism in the public eye is on Twitter. There were 4.2 million antisemitic tweets shared or reshared in 2018 over a 12-month span. This connects to times in Germany of the 1930's and 1940's when Hitler would give speeches dehumanizing Jews and telling them what and what not they can be. He is also a very open Antisemitic person. His extreme beliefs have caught the attention of many Neo-Nazis and other Antisemitic groups. He goes as far as to blame the US Civil War on Jewish plantation owners. He has said on many occasions that he believes that Judaism is a “deceptive lie” and a “theological terror.” He has also spoken at many rallies and marches, most notably the Million Man March in which he described himself as an “anti-termite,” a very offensive term to Jews. Farrakhan has openly criticized the public education systems for not teaching about the "true evil of Judaism." He promotes a book called "The Secret Relationship Between Blacks and Jews." This is an Antisemitic novel that blames Jews for spreading information that degraded and deteriorated black people during the times of injustice against the black community. This also connects to Germany during World War Two. Hitler would publicly humiliate and verbally abuse Jews in his speeches. An example was a young Jewish man being encircled by a group of people, screaming horrible things such as “f--- you, Jew!” and having 7/11 Slurpee's thrown at him. Another attack on two Jewish people were on a mother and her child. They were getting donuts from Dunkin' Donuts when they were attacked outside by a man. He grabbed the child out of the mother's arms and threw the child to the floor. The person was arrested, but this did not stop the attacks. Despite the Mayor and Governor’s quick responses for Justice, more Jews were harassed, beat, and verbally abused. These attacks relate to attacks on Jews in Israel from the Palestinians. Palestinians would launch rockets and missiles at Israeli citizens. We are not bending towards justice at all when it comes to Antisemitism, in fact bending away from justice. Antisemitism is wide spread and sadly accepted in this country, as well as many other countries. People think it is okay to tell a Holocaust joke or a “Jew joke,” while others may see it as very offensive. We can prevent Antisemitism in America by standing up to those who verbally or physically attack Jews. It is important that everyone has equal rights in society and all over the world, and ridding Antisemitism will lead to a huge step towards world peace.
