This is different from today because if people find something in space or in the ocean that is new then they will get lots of money, but he wasn't looking for money. 
Glory- George Bass named parts of Australia after him and his crew, this is similar to today because if people find a landmark on another planet or in the ocean then they usually name it after themselves too. 
God- He explored Australia to map it and learn about it not to spread his religion. They now speaks English because the British spread their language and blended with the natives. Australia celebrates Christmas and other christian and British holidays there today too because the British spread their culture to Australia.   • When the Europeans colonized america they drove the Native Americans out of their home land, similar to when the British colonized Australia they drove out the Native Australians from their home land and made them leave.
  • People found new plants and animals when they explored, similar to when the British colonized Australia they found new animals like the kangaroo, Tasmanian devil, and the koala, and they told people around the world about the new animals they found. 
  • Countries expanded to get more land to use and more land meant more power, just like Napoleon expanded France's territory in the early 1800's.
