The plan was created by General Winfield Scott. The plan was to choke the Confederacy through land and sea. In the propaganda post it makes it seem like a snake. When a snake catches its prey it squeezes it till it can't breathe, exactly what the General was trying to do. It was also called "Scott's Great Snake" and published Elliot J.B..

During this time cotton played a huge role on daily life and helped people make money. The Confederacy almost had European powers be involved in this war because they blocked all embargos or shipping of cotton to them. This plan failed as Britain had received a huge supply of cotton for the year before the war begun. The South tried to reverse the policy but it was late to do so as the plan had failed.

The Nebraska-Kansas Act was presented by Douglas. He wanted to create a railroad that would help the North and the South put their  differences to the side. The only issue with this is slavery. Slavery divided both territories into two. Slavery was decided by Popular Sovereignty. Which left the North slaves being free and the South having slavery be a right to people.

He tried to initiate a slave revolt that got him in jail alongside many of the men that helped him. Abolitionist people are for ending slavery and believe that it's their right to have slaves. The plan was to supply slaves or free black men with guns and weapons to stand up for themselves against the white that had them caged up. Many of the slaves and black men refused to take part of this. Many were injured and dead on either side of the raid. The plan was huge reason that the Civil War began. Many of the men involved in this situation were also a part of the Civil War on the Confederacy side.

They said that if that any slave from rebellious state would be free starting January 1, 1863 unless if the rebellious states decide to be a part of the Union and stop the fighting. They really believed this would work but it failed. The rebellious states denied the offer. This led to Lincoln actually wanting to do emancipation and letting slaves be free. This was all part of a huge plan to get people to side with the Union. Genius!

He was a physician and was one of the first to get admitted into Harvard Medical School but then taken out due to white students protesting. He was fascinated by his home culture and was inspired by it. He learned about slavery and went to a slave state to witness it first hand. He helped Frederick Douglass recruit black men into the Union he also became a commissioner during the Civil War to lead his men to the free life.

Even though Lee's army was smaller they took General Joseph Hooker by surprise. General Hooker was shot by one of his men accidentally at during the fight. After the Unions the defeat and Lee having this victory the French and British were impressed that they gave the Confederacy a $15 million loan.  The British also allowed the Confederates to secretly use their weapons to destroy the Unions wooden ships.

After those two victories the Confederates had no chance of getting any support from the British like they had before. The only issue is that the British raiders caused some tensions. Confederates from British Canada crossed the border to rob banks and set NYC on fire.

The Northerners didn't see this as a threat but a gift as they thought they were there to help them in case the French and the British started to help the Southerners. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case as the Czar only sent them there to protect them from winter freezing. The Northerners still welcomed them with open arms and celebratory ways.

In the summer of 1863, Union federal troops raided Indian Territory, forcing Confederate tribes to flee, causing their governments and economy to drastically drop.

During the Summer of 1863 they fought the battle of Vicksburg and Gettysburg. The Union won both battles with Gettysburg being a long three day battle and Vicksburg being a 6 week long siege. Gettysburg gave the Union most of the Mississippi River and then with Vicksburg giving them full total control of it. After both battles the Confederates surrender nearly half of their men. At this point they were losing.

Since during this time women weren't allowed to be a part of the military they would help out in other ways. Some were nurses, others helped out filling cartridges of water for the soldier, and some sewed uniforms and shirts and cleaned stuff for them. Even though it may seem small it helped the men stay focused on what was important. Not just that but the minor things they did for them helped them survive any diseases from drinking dirty water or from having ripped uniforms where bacteria could sip through the skin easily. It was a huge movement as women started to get recognized for their hard work.

Farmers invested in more livestock to provide armies with food and benefit them financially in the long run.

It was a telephone that used specific wires to connect lines. Many rich slave owners owned one of these. During the John Brown raid Brown had some of his man cut the wires of this telegraphs so people wouldn't be able to get in contact with each other and stop the revolt. The telegraph wasn't invented during the Civil War timeline but was heavily used during this period.

Hunley was the first submarine that was used during the Civil War.  This underwater ship sunk the first enemy ship, the Union vessel "Housatonic".  The vessel was nearly 12 meters in length and could hold up to 9 men. The Hunley was shipped by rail to Charleston, SC, where it launched in July.

Sherman to lead both Union armies from different ends. Once they both advanced against Lee's men he had no choice but to surrendered both Confederate armies. At that time is when the Union called it a victory. Lincoln also had trouble trying to get re elected for the election of the Fall but unfortunately even though it was time to celebrate their win, the President was murdered. It was a tough war and a long time for victory but many won't forget how strong and calm Lincoln went by it.

Gatling in 1861 and later patented 4 years later. The main purpose of the gun was to decrease the amount of men and therefore casualties within the war.  The weapon wasn't the first true automatic gun, as it required to be cranked manually, but was still considered a massive step in gun technology.
