This one will be a "learn how to" so students know how 9-weeks projects in the future will go. Students may be asked to figure out what macromolecules are present in different foods, what the roles of different foods are, and design a diet for optimal health using the macromolecules in foods.

This one will be an outdoor project where students choose a location and analyze it for predators/prey, various forms of competition, biotic and abiotic factors, etc. Students will choose how to present their findings but must show data appropriately and must analyze data using graphs, charts, etc. Pre-approval for this project will be necessary.

Biology Project/Scenario/ Problem #4: Evolution

This one will be a little tricky, especially in Alabama. I find that I have to "build students up" to evolution by talking about natural and artificial selection first and helping students see (and accept) evidence of micro-evolution before they consider macro-evolution. Perhaps this project could center on a particular organism (chosen by each group), then build a padlet of information about the organism, including classification, artificial selection (if applicable), adaptations, diversity, resources, mutations, etc.

For each body system, have a case study in which students must use gained knowledge about the system to diagnose a pathology or condition. This could be done in teams or individually, depending on the system. The first system could be the lymphatic system (in order to get students "used to" the idea of case studies for each system and to help students navigate the information about Covid 19 that has been circulating in the public sphere).
